I had taken it off to give it a good cleaning and treatment over the winter. FECK!! So I rode my trailbike home the 25km home while she followed me.

Ya, 4C + 25km and 90km/h on a CRF250L = I'm a fudgsicle.

Grabbed the seat and went back for the FJR. Thumbed the starter and it sprang to life like it was running 15 minutes ago. Much nicer ride back on the FJR. Thumbed the windshield up an extra inch or so, flipped on the grip heaters - Lets go for a ride!

Unfortunately I had to give my gf a ride back to her place so she could feed the munchkins. Still felt great even it was only 50km total.

First trip of the year is the first weekend of May. Talk about calling it close!
Hey Steve - good to hear you made it out for a ride. 4C?!? That sounds positively balmy

Nice afternoon here so I went for a snowmobile ride on the lake and took out the Honda Trail 90 out for a little ride. It needs some more tuning.

Maybe we're lacking something you have relating to the ability to deal with riding in the cold...

Should I bring a trout rod or will it be too late. I was thinking the Bows maybe running in some of the rivers along Superior. Mind you the Ontario fishing regs are so wonky now, I might not have proper coloured gear to approach a stream, on a Sunday, with a south wind blowing!!! PM me, maybe we can arrange something as I have a few days to kill between Wawa and the EOAR.

A month Gord, wow, do you think the ice will be off your lake for the icebreaker?
Greg, a buddy of mine has been getting the odd steelhead thru the ice on Superior at the creeks south of Wawa.
I could go for some fishing before the ice breaker.

I'll let you know once the ice starts melting. The snow hasn't even come off the top yet.

The highways are bare, but my driveway and the 3 km to the highway are center-bare. No bare ground visible anywhere yet. I'll put the battery in the Scrambler tonight just in case the forecast for warmer weather this week holds true.

I also posted this on the WPG thread, but my other half is finally back in town. I want to set up a bbq/mini tech day for before we leave on the 3rd.

If I were to make it for this Friday, would anybody be available to join?

Compared to the weather we've had lately, it was! It supposed to go to 17C and sunny by the weekend. You can bet I'll be out for a scoot somewhere.

Who am I kidding, I'm going to get out for a ride after work tonight!

Hey, I am from Manitoulin. I have a beat up 08 GS that has seen its share of dirt.

Anyways getting a bit fed up with just farting around on these day rides and commuting and want to get some good gravel in, feed the beast so to say.

The ghist of the ride would be to head north from Massey to Ritchie Falls across to Searchmont, up to the Sultan Road and back down through Webwood. Something like that. I thought if there were riders from SSM area or therabouts we can hook up around Searchmont, get a chalet, drop weight and recce the area for a day..then continue on the next day through the Sultan Rd and loop around.

Anybody know the conditions of the roads? Thinking those pesky patches of ice disguised as wet road. Tenatively thinking the weekend of the 4th. Posting more info on thread, Near North Loop.
