Back home in TN

Got back to TN today at 310pm today. All I did was grin about the great ride this weekend. Bob and the rest of you I cannot say enough how great you all were to me and a great bunch of guys you are! I really learned a lot about handling the extra weight of a R12GSA, sure a lot different from my KTM 525 EXC-g! The ankle deep gravel roads were quite a challenge for me. I look forward to the next ride in MS. I am going to start setting up my own ride here from my home in east TN, probably more toward Big South Fork and on the Cumberland Plateau than the usual over in Blue Ridge, Cherokee Nat'l Forest and the Dragon. Again, thanks to you all for a great weekend!:

2013 The Great Race

Fellow local inmate Jeffrides is running a chase truck for some friends in The Great Race and let us know the parade of vintage cars would be close by tonight, so DavidQ and I decided to saddle up and go check it out as they arrived in Vicksburg, MS for a night stop.

DQ and I chose a meeting place and time on the side of the Interstate where we both fueled up and hit the slab to get there quick... or so we thought.
Seems there is a 14 mile section of construction where the 5 o clock traffic was in one lane! DQ and I got split in separate lanes and as we approached the slowdown / merge, he jumped around a couple of cars and I got boxed out so I lost site of him. When the road opened, I opened up the Tiger and went searching for a KTM!!

Finally I catch up with DQ. Luckily he was lollygagging and waiting for me to catch up!

We pull into Vicksburg a bit later and find a place to squeeze our bikes between two poorly parked cages... Get off and walk through the cars.

Anyone remember the movie The Great Race with Tony Curtis?

Hey Trophy1298...can we put ^^^ that sign on the back of your bike?

So after getting a little to hot walking around in ATTGAT, we decided to head for supper. Apparently we weren't on the correct bikes to park illegally at the front door...

So we got our Mexican on and hit the slab as the sun set behind us our way home...

It was a good ride, a little warm, but still fun and we got to see some amazing machinery!!!

ADV-AR Camping Trip

A group of us MS Adventure Riders decided to attend the monthly AR ADV campout. This great group of guys, lead by Oleary, puts on a weekend campout at a different state park / campground in Arkansas one weekend a month.

So DavidQ, SupahFlid, and myself met up bright and humid at the Waffle House!

This was a good excuse for me to add some luggage space to the Tiger. here you see it loaded up at the Waffle House with a candidate for the JoMomma "Asshole Parking Thread" next to me...

After our fill of "scattered, covered, and chunked", we hid the slab towards Vicksburg, MS... (I think it may be time for a new camera... This one was slow to focus on several occasions this trip)

At Highway 61, we met up with Trailblazer990

So the 3 KTM990's with a Tiger in chase headed north...

Crossing the Yazoo River

And now we enter that long, flat, straight road obstacle keeping us separated from the Ozarks... the MS Delta! Did I mention that it was hot, humid, flat, straight, and flat?

Long, flat, straight, same...

This camera seems to be getting slower to take pictures making it harder for me to snap pics on the fly...

there is a house is there somewhere

Lots of old churches, houses, juke joints, barns, etc.

And small post offices

And yard art

And mosquito breeding grounds...

Since we are close to the Mighty Muddy, all the important building have levees around them...

The Onward Store, which tells the story of Teddy Roosevelt and the invention of the "Teddy Bear"

Anyone looking for a "fixer-upper"?

When riding behind Supah, always watch for the signs of an upcoming spit! If he looks hard right, swerves into left lane, etc, he is giving the signs!!!

It's kind of hard to tell in this blurry moving shot, but the rear end of this "tractor" is a painted hay bale...

Soon we were nearing the Greenville bridge over the MS

This where I noticed something flapping in the wind on Supah's KTM. He had a strap with a small buckle on the end loose and swinging against the swingarm. I flagged him down being afraid it might get in the chain or the spokes and cause a sudden stop!

With all loose ends taken care of, we were ready to head off into the Arkansas flat lands...

Did I say that it was flat, straight, hot, humid, etc?
