Cool2 late to the party

quick intro......been a member here for some time but have been away
from bikes in recent years.
having owned 2 XR600's in the past I bought myself another beast over 2
years ago and it has sat around since then (I have never ridden it )

Recently (in the last month) I have started purchasing the bits and pieces
to get back into riding again.

have been looking at buying a Zeta triple clamp but wanting to know
if anyone has used one with the Trail tech Vapour setup.
I have been searching mounting kits etc with no luck

regards
Geoff

are your using a seal kit? or just rebuilding? what fluid are you going to put back in?

there are some great options for suspension fluid for the shock if you want to change it up a bit...

cheers
elsalvadorklr,
seal kit is going in... I'd very muchly like some advice on shock oil, I've read that you can use ATF (Auto Tranny Fluid)or fork oil ? ? ? H.E.L.P.

Welcome along Geoff, let us all know what area you are from, and we all love to see photo's of XR's so get yours up here !

I have a Trail Tech Vapour and when going it worked well, once, then gave me nothing but basically intermittent operation after that. They have heaps of functions and I like that and the Tacho...How ever, they are not robust nor is the mount, I'm sure others have had luck with them, I've spend more time working on this element of the bike than anything else. I'm gonna look for a push bike speedo for it.

thanks for the welcome
I live on the Mid North Coast of Australia, about 3.5 hrs north of Sydney.

The bloke I sold my last XR600 to kept the Trail tech Vapour and gave it back
to me after he sold the bike on,I'm hoping to get it mounted up very soon.
In the past I have used a pushbike speedo but always had trouble getting
the magnet to run close enough to the pickup.

New front disc and pads arrived yesterday so I'm a little bit closer to
riding again

Well, I haven't made it to day two, the first day was ended by the organizer on checkpoint 3 (out of 12) because no one could go more. But I ended my race somewhere almost at 2nd check. XR didn't want to start, I kicked for almost an hour, then started pushing it towards some village some 10km's away (0.4 bar tires and mud)...

went for a ride today with some friends, seemed like the third gear was broken/slipping.. Went home and changed my boots for street purpose ones and gave it a few runs of WOT in third, didnt experience any slipping/hopping in third.. Hope its because of my other boots.. (I don't have any feel in those..)

HI
I need U help:)
I have Honda 1990 with engine done by XR ony ( HRC 628 big bore) with mikuni flat side carb from XR Only either.
Problem i have , i can not star that bike after is hot. I start when cold, then stop, then try again and nothing ...
When cold, it starts after few kiks, then when hot , i need to wait until it will cold down.
I see also that sometimes looks like it is overfloat as fuel is running from the carb under the bike.

From the other side , when is running, and i try to make a staty throtlle in 3/4 position is not running smooth, is going up and down on rpm.
What to do?
I try to do it whole week already and Im lost:(

Martin,

The no start when warm can be due to the valves being out of adjustment. 4 thou intake and 5 thou exhaust. Try starting with the choke partially on. If this helps then the pilot jet is to small.

The fuel flowing out of the carb can be that the float level is to high or this does happen from vigorusly kicking the bike.

The 3/4 throttle can be helped by changing the needle clip position. Experimant by going up or down a position. Do this after the hard start problem is corrected.

martin you need to know what jets you have...tried to help out on your rebuild thread

the no start hot is most likely from being rich...when hot...thats classice, the oem carb is famous for that when hot, as is the mikuni...

lean down a bit and rejet the pilot for HOT starts

noboidy cares if its hard to start cold right? a lot of hondas are cold blooded

do plug chops too

I have the exact same carb you have

right now its a bit hard to start cold but 1 kicker hot...everytime

x2 on the valves

nice and loose

Mine not:( and i did what i did ( pay to XR only ) to avoid that kind of problems, my old engine works from the first kik as U:(

I will check velves.
If i use choke even in half way, bike does not start , is overfoted stright from the beginning.
