Oh, never cancel the message at night because the orange warning lamp will blind you.

The light is red on my bike and not that bright. You must have the new improved model. :)

I can't confirm the color since I'm colorblind. I think the only thing brighter is the high beam indicator.

42 days until my trip. I've spent more money farkling this bike than almost any other and I haven't even sat on it yet. I did end up buying a Corbin seat, got it for $350 shipped. I got a backrest for it and passenger peg extenders.

So far my shopping list is about 90% finished.
Done:
Corbin seat
Backrest
Passenger peg extensions
Gel grips
Larger windshield
Boots for the wife
Pants for the wife
Gloves for the wife
Back brace for the wife
Helmet coms
Pants for me
Hydration pack
Plane tickets

To do:
New jacket for me
Frogg toggs for the wife.

This got expensive fast, but It's killing me not to be able to ride during the summer.

I HATED mine.

I would have been PISSED to spend $500+ on one to HATE it 50 miles from the house on a long trip.
Here's my experience. I bought a Corbin right before a 3 week trip. And I HATED it after day one, was almost ready to BURN it on day 2 (760 miles) except I was on a trip, spent most of day three BITCHING about it, barely thought about it on day 4, and it didn't even cross my mind on day 5 once it was broke in. By the end of the trip I LOVED it. Had I been home, I'd of probably just sold it after day two.

YMMV

It just really works for me in the twisties.

This one is used and has about 3k on it, so it should be somewhat broken in. We'll have a day to ride around on it and try it out. If I don't like it I should be able to resell it for around what I paid.

If you do a little searching around there is a way to put the C10 pax pegs on the C14. Cheap, easy and lowers them a good bit. My wife is a shrimp so the stock pegs are fine. I'll get you the info on the back rest as soon as I get home.
Reco that you sit on a Russell on the Connie first. I can flat foot the stock seat (33" inseam) and can flat foot with bent knees the Corbin. I could barely get my toes on the ground with the Russell. Made me super nervous.

Looking at a 2010. Is this the "updated" version? Anything I should look out for? An inline four from Kawasaki should be pretty much bullet proof?

Yes on the updated version. No real issues other than check the battery cables for tightness and corrosion on the negative terminal. Make sure that you get both "fobs".

I just finished a one week, 3500 mile road trip down the coast and through the UTAH parks from Washington on my newly acquired 2008 Connie. My only real complaint was the Corbin sport seat until later in the trip when it did seem to soften up a bit. I do think I'd rather try a Russell and maybe some lower pegs.

I did have one issue with a weep from a coolant hose where the clamp needed to be tightened. I also managed to flat spot some PR3s. Other than that, flawless with an average moving speed of 60mph for the week.
