Maybe you might be interested in this? It is way more offroad capable than a KLR. It has been a great dual sport ride for me for several years. For the same price as that tractor quoted above you get a fresh top end along with custom tuned and rebuildable suspension and lots of spare parts. Plus a spare set of bulletproof custom made Excel wheels is available too. Let's talk.

I don't have money... Just daydreaming for now. Part of me wants to sell my 250 but then I got nothing to ride at all =/

Or... an XR650L. Lighter than the KLR, air cooled, better offroad, same design for the past 20 years so lots of cheap easy to find parts.

I'm a bit biased though...

I've read thy overheat fairly easily off road. Not sure how true that is. I want a KLR because i plan on doing long road trips and some gravel forest service roads. Possibly a 650r ... Gonna keep saving and try to sell my XL250 soon

you might be dissapointed in the KLR offroad. I did the wabdr last year on my dr650 with 2 new klrs and 2 old klrs. one of the old klrs had a mechanical problem and didn't finish, and both of the guys on the new klrs have since sold their bikes for something better offroad. They didn't seem to think the klrs were particularly great onroad either.

It's about as tried and true of a dual sport as exists. It does nothing great but everything good (except race supercross or hit the gnarliest single track maybe.)

A fun argument though is which is the more competent thumper? The DR650 or the KLR650? Plenty of good fodder to consider over on Thumpertalk.

Not a motorcycle, but this is a really good deal on a (not well regarded) sail boat. The motor and trailer are worth the $1,650 asking price.

Some overheating issues if you are doing extended freeway riding or a bunch of single track, but you can also add an oil cooler for pretty cheap. THere are kits for them that run around $150, and some guys make their own for less than $50. A friend of mine just took his XR650L from Oregon to the southern tip of South America with no major mechanical problems. Even had it go down a few times offroad and on pavement, get hit by a car, etc. Flew it back to Oregon and he and his brother are still riding it around.

More ground clearance than a KLR or a DR, decent suspension, weighs less than the KLR and DR, street legal (can be hard to plate a 650R in some places), great engines that last a long time, super easy maintanence.

A Harly in a trailer being pulled by a truck? How unusual. Must be either stolen or an undercover WA LEO.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcd/3772741262.html

"I went out to Lake Memaloose to fire off a few rounds today and noticed a Ford pick up with a green Harley in a trailer. Could be nothing, but seemed odd to me. So if your bike got stolen you might want to go have a look around up there."
