Holy Crap.

I stop hanging around this place for a bit and you all start crashing? What's up with that?

Those that are hurt... heal well, heal fast.

Those that avoided injury... glad you are ok.

To all of you... STOP IT! Stop crashing.

As they say, only two kinds of riders. Those that have gone down, and those that will.

I'm a proud bone breaking, riding realist, crushing my first bone at the age of ten, and then about every three years afterwards. . If you ride, you'd better have good insurance. I rank it as the best Farkle you can invest in.
Rob is there such a thing as "riding insurance" that one could purchase for just to cover you if riding? My insurance from work is real shitty and I don't work enough hours to cover myself year round, plus with the $500 deductible it has to bad. Last year when I injured my foot at the "kids ride" I had to pay out of pocket to the doc because I hadn't reached my deductible. Later doc try's to bill insurance and the bill gets kicked back to me for more $$$. Two x-rays no folow-up call like I was told I would get.

Sent the doc a thank-you note via "red brick air mail" but forgot to sign it.

I'll never go to that crook again, but every so often I give his clinic a negative report on yelp. (where I found him)

Go with Foremost motorcycle insurance, you get $25000 medical coverage when you get full coverage on the moto.....

When I crashed in 2010, they paid me about $2000 to fix the bike and replace gear, yeah gear is covered. They also paid all medical bills and expenses like first aid etc. 0 out of pocket! Medical bills were about $3000.
And your moto will be coverd for theft, fire, etc.
Fuck Geico.
Check it out Grinch.

Foremost is the brokerage side of Farmers. I've always gone with Progressive. 250/500 liability, 250/500 umb, 250 deduc on comp/coll, $150/yr for the KTM and $180 for the BMW.

As for mc only med insurance,. . Most carriers actually try to exclude riding all together, or for that matter, any risky endeavor. . Just get some good med insurance with excellent emergency room coverage and low to no deduc with zero copayment. It runs about $600/mth, but that's better than the $50k that they spent on my last med bills, including two surgeries.

If you're really healthy and don't ever go to the Dr, the look into a program called Tonik. It's actually designed for catastrophic medical, not for hypochondriacs that need to go to the Dr for every little thing. Pretty affordable and backed by Anthem BC.

Sure, no problem. It's a pretty stripped down plan that was designed around the SSS industry. Designed for people who are generally in really good physical health, but tend to be accident prone.

Scott, some of those supplemental plans are ok, but only if they don't decline payments based on accident/risk exposure. It's in the very, very fine print. The shit you need a magnifying glass to read. It usually declines payment for anything other than "usual activity" and typically declines payment for motorcycle riding, race cars, sky diving, kangaroo boxing, crocodile wrestling, etc, etc, etc.

Heal up quick El Zorrillo

Those pictures are never pretty to look at.

To think I have ridden for 30 years and as a self employed contractor.
I rarely had any health or life insurance.

Rob I got an Insurance question for you.
If you and your wife both have full medical. Each being the primary for their own policy and the spouse and kids being secondary coverage of each others policy.

If something major happens how is it handled???
My policy is Cal PERS and my wife's is private PPO.

Will each policy cover any laps in each others policy?

Thanks

Thumb Keep Riding !

I wish I could post up pix of my shattered spine , the L1 vertibrae looks like a shot glass dropped on a cement floor .

5 years and counting , I'll wear a back brace and use a cane until I die but I refuse to stop riding so far .

I'll prolly never ride off road again but I *do* still ride and I hope all here follow the Doctor's P.T. regimine as that's crucial to regaining mobility and flexibility .

CAL PERS offers HMO and PPO plans...this would also dictate which networks and physicians to use etc.

Did you think this society would REWARD two full time workers? Ha ha ha ha!!!

No sir.
I actually dobn't think that what he's looking for. As long as you are both covered as primary or secondary on each others policy, even if one policy lapses, you are still covered. Even if both policies are still in effect, the primary would be the one tapped. If for some reason the primary company found about about a secondary policy they might attempt to subrogate a portion of the loss. This is soemthing done behind the scenes and you would probably never even see it occur.

Let's get back to riding and breaking bones talk. I'm not the medical insurance specialist in my brokerage. I leave that up to Brenda.
