Ktm 450 - rear brake overheating

Was riding yesterday and ever so often I lost the rear brake. It came back after cooling down the rear master.
The piston seems to be moving freely but the pads are sticking to the disc...what can one do?

If you were riding in mud it could be causing friction.

Or you may simply be leaving your foot slightly on the brake pedal - try lowering it a cm or two.

Other possible causes are; Brake fluid reservoir over full. Fluid return port in reservoir plugged. In either of these two cases, as the fluid heats and expands, it has nowhere to go and begins to put pressure on the piston. A quick way to pinpoint this problem is to open the bleed port on the caliper when its hot and dragging. If fluid squirts out and it also relieves the dragging brake you then know the expanding fluid is under slight pressure. If that is indeed the case, rebuild the master cyclinder and pay close attention to the return port.

Also check that the two halves of the sliding caliper set-up are moving freely.
