XR350R to 12V

Just bought an '85 XR350R and she runs like a dream. Trying to make her street legal and updating the lighting to 12V. Have the regulator in hand but need a little advice in connecting it. From what I have read, it appears I need to tap into the blue wire coming off the stator and then ground the other end of the regulator. Am I on the right trail?
Thanks from a thumper newbie.

XR350R 12v

Hey, I would be interested to hear about your experience converting your XR to 12v. I own an '84 XR350R with the 6V AC electrical that I CA plated. I use a 12V dry cell to run LED t/s & brake lights, recharging about once a month. The stock enduro 6V head & tail lights suck but I haven't wanted to give up the Honda reliability for an aftermarket rewound 12V stator.
