H-D to KLR

I sold my Harley for a KLR and when that bike was crashed, I got another KLR and then sold that for a XR650L...
I love the XR and miss the KLR (want them both)
...not missing the H-D yet.
We tend to mock what we don't understand!

I didn't sell the power bike. I have an '04 KLR650, a '05 ZX12R, occasionally a revolving scooter to buy fix ride flip repeat. Picking away at a couple projects here and there.

This thread has "powerful" in the subject line... whats with all the harley talk?

My phrasing for the common idea here is this. If aliens or an evil genie or whatever said I had to pick one bike for the whole world and all others would instantly vanish from the earth I wouldn't hesitate to go with the KLR. If they said I could pick about 8 to 12 bikes the KLR would never make it onto the keeper list.

Thing is, most people ARE in that position. Lucky is the rider who can have a large stable, full to brimming with one of each perfect bike for every occasion. These things aren't golf clubs and we're not (mostly not) doctors. So we can't have a motorcycle for sand and a motorcycle for distance and a motorcycle for precision and a motorcycle for tall grass and a motorcycle for short grass and.... yall get it, I'm rambling now.

Lately when folks talk about "investing" thirty grand in an immaculate cruiser my mind instantly thinks what fun it would be to have a a barn full of twenty KLR's ready to ride.

Yup..but been thinking

You can only ride one..if its for two up a lot the choice would be a DL650. but the Klr will take you most anywhere..often keep your ego in check and may even remind you of that which a settler would have loved in there pony west....50k plus on Klrs..the other bikes would get jealous if I kept a stable
