Of course, anyone is welcome to form a little private ride between buddies and take off.....or do a solo ride. (We do like Solo Riders to speak with Big_John, so that someone knows where you are going and when you will be back.....and Solo Riders should have a SPOT.)

Here are a couple of hypothetical examples of Ride Information.....to give you an idea......

Leader: Big_John - KTM 950 ADV - 24 Riders Max
Alpine Loop Ride - Jeep Trails - 75 miles
Big to Mid-sized Bikes - Novice Riders and slow-moderate speed
Departure at 9am - Expected return at 4pm
Meeting in front of the Red Mtn Offices
Lunch in Lake City

Leader: Modette (Mark) - GAS GAS 300 - 10 Riders Max
Telluride - Single Track - Over Black Bear - 90 miles
Small Plated Dual Sport Bikes - Advanced Ride
Departure at 8:30 - Expected return at 5-6pm
Meeting by the RMAR BBQ Trailer
Lunch on the trail, pack appropriately

Leader: Mac (Matt) - BMW 1200GSA - 15 Riders Max
Million Dollar Highway, Rico/Durango Loop - 250 miles
Big Adventure Bikes - All Pavement
Departure at 8am - Expected return at 4pm
Meeting by Cabin #6
Lunch in Durango at the MicroBrew

Big John - good stuff (as usual). Mileage of the loop is critical for me. It sucks being the guy with the least range... I think I can squeeze 70 miles out of my bike.

Regarding registering, is the "donation" the only fees for this event?

thanks

70 miles?! What are you riding?

Many of the rest will carry extra fuel, as should you. I for one don't mind "helping a brotha out", but you should really
consider how to increase your range.

The only thing I'd like to add (since I'm a little uptight about seeing our trails overly impacted) is that Calico, Priest, Little Bear etc... are all WAy WAY Way harder than Hermosa. So if you were on the Hermosa ride last year and it was near your limit, I'd strongly suggest not trying any of these trails. And even more so if you will be oxygen challenged.

Agreed. If this happens, it will be five or less people of good known ability and seriously deranged..for me, one of those qualities makes up for averageness in the other...

Telluride single track ?

Hey all,

Last year a group did a ride on some super sweet looking Single track just west of Telluride. I know Big John was on that ride, and I went the other direction that day.

Since I want to avoid the super rough stuff that Modette's crew is talking about near Rico/dolores, cna someone reply to what trail number that "easy " single track near telluride was ?

PM to me if preferred. I dont think I can keep up with Grub , modeette and Enduro Ince on that hard stuff. I barely survived Lost creek last year

No worries. Keep in mind, i could be wrong, but that is the only singletrack i can think of just west of Telluride, that is legal for motos. East Fork is another good one to consider without much gnar factor, the stream crossings can be a little slick, the second one heading southeast does a have a little climb and switchback at top, but it is generally easy/luggable type stuff....

This is correct. I was also on that ride, and I was not happy to be on the 690. That trail, and riding a borrowed 300 for a bit on that trail, is what convinced me I needed a 300. (I was right, and solved that need over the winter).

If only the turning radius on a 690 was better than a Freightliner...

How about I just stash your bike in Rico Thursday, then you could ride bitch with me over Bolam, then help lead the ride...the only hard part would be riding bitch again over east fork..but that could just add to the challenge!whaddya say?
