I always like to see what you XT guys are up too.
I ride an 03 TE610 Husky but there is no after market top luggage plates like this available for my model.
I currently have a home made job at the moment which isn't too bad, but ugly.
I have been thinking for a while about buying a B&B top plate only and making my own brckets to mount it.
But before I buy one, I want to make sure plate size will work.
Could someone help me out with the plate only dimensions (length and width).
Going off photos only. The top plates look to be the same size on other models but with different cut outs etc.
The plates only are $90 to suit a DR or DRZ which already has the rear rack.
I would prob. just use that one.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan
Hi Guys, I said I would let you know how I go with the rear rack. Turned out pretty good for a home made job.
Just bought the top plate only and welded my own brackets to it.

Good job Dan,

You have kept it nice and low and level with the seat, (which I like). It should provide good service for you.

Cheers
John.

The SW stand bolts on at the sides under the footpeg mounts, so I doubt it would cause any issues....

Got to go for a ride, want to come?

Anyone going for a ride this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday (4th or 5th)? It's killing me, I need to go for a squirt without a pillion.

Leaving Northern Gold Coast area, heading South over the borderish area. Need someone to ride with until my pig is proven reliable, just in case...I'll bring a tow rope.

Anyone??????

Come on.......

Robo

Quick solo ride 5th May 2013

Took my piggy for her first real ride without a pillion and it was a solo one so wasn't game to go to far. Over Ormeau, Tamborine and Canungra and down to Southport Sharks to see my young fella playing.

Hey Moyston, well done.
May you both live happily ever after.

Farkle 1 = 2 in 1 exhaust system to get some more ground clearance.
Farkle 2 = get the suspenders fixed.

Couple of things to comment on after finally getting to ride mine solo, is that the XT for a big fat heavy pig, is incredibly stable, it holds a line brilliantly and the balance of the bike is just perfect. Bar risers go a long way to help with stand up riding and an air hawk helps with extended sitting.

The suspenders are soft and I was constantly bottoming both the front and back over some rocky trails, but having a big fat fuck on its back doesn't help in that department, cost to fix is about $750 for the front and back with heavier springs and valves in the forks.

That 660 motor is just a dream, not to much and not to little...it's just right. I was amazed at It's ability to happily tractor up the rock infested trails out the back of Ormeau. Engine vibration is minimal compared to a KTM. Can vouch for the quality of the Guard-It Bashplate too, bouncing off Ormeau boulders, with only a few scratches as the result.

I reckon, the XT660R is hands down one of the best bikes I have ever owned.
