Hello all.

hi all, been a member for a while here but just noticed this thread. I've got a 08 GTR having traded from a pan. Had a few issues with it including 5 sets of front brake discs in 16k. Apart from that I really like the bike

I tend to do a lot of touring in Europe and off to a holland at the end of next month for a long weekend. Camping zeeburg in Amsterdam if anyone going that way is a great place to camp.

Anyho , Just wanted to say hello.

Cheers

AB

Change brake pads to something other than the stock. I've had good luck with the EBC HH pads on mine. With the stock pads, I developed what felt like what people describe as warped rotors. A really heavy pulsing, especially at light brake application. I believe that it was pad deposits. I went to the EBC pads and have had NO issues since, and I'm up past 80k miles now.

I think I might have already said it but if you decide to sell your stock seat I'm calling "dibs". What back rest did you go with? Pics?

+1. I went through 3 sets of disks in the first 15k. The fourth set was starting to feel wonky, I switched to EBC HH pads and have not had any further problems for 30k+.

I'll probably sell the stock to you, not sure what they go for. We did put a Corbin on it, it already showed up at my Grandpa's place and he installed. He says it's really nice.

Here's the backrest I put on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just a heads up, The AST (advanced sport touring) backrest I ordered attaches to their rear luggage rack. It doesn't work without modification on the OEM rack. I'm going to return it and get a corbin backrest. If anyone is selling one I'd be interested. The AST setup is over $300 for the backrest and the luggage rack. I'm pretty disappointed about this.

Oops.

*This backrest will not mount directly to the stock factory luggage rack. This is designed to be used with the Advanced Sport Touring luggage rack or by modifying another brand aftermarket luggage rack.

That sucks. Mine bolts to the support arms, under the stock luggage rack, with provided spacers. Its a bummer they don't make that one anymore.

On a brighter note, I will be out in San Francisco sometime in July, or August, for 5 weeks of training. The bike will be staying out there, with me riding it while I am on reserve, for up to another year after that. I expect a few guided tours........

If you make it down to the central coast (San Luis Obispo County) hit me up and we'll go for a ride. You could even crash for a night if you wanted to and don't mind sleeping in the garage. There's a lot of great roads and amazing scenery here.
