Is there anything in the decompression mechanism that would possibly make loud noises like that?

I hear ya on changing some tires out. I damn near busted a gut with one of the first D-606's I mounted...with two 8" tire irons. :huh It took about three times before I broke down and got longer irons.

:cry Guess I'll pul the top off the engine one of these days and see whats up.
I also have the clutch basket starting to get real sticky. I guess its grooved pretty badly with 40,000 miles on it. Don't know whether to try and file this one down or just get a new one...along with new clutch plates.

    well then there's that. :eek1

My son is complaining about how hard his bike is to start recently. His bike has a Sudco FCR41 carb on it. I'm gonna swap in my OE carb and grab his. I paid for it anyway. :clap :lol3 :clap

Ebay.i got one for under 100 bucks like new:wink:

Pull the valve cover,,grab the timing chain and if you can lift up on the chain at the top of the sprocket then the chain is poached.....if you adjusted your valves correctly... i lay money on that kinda mileage,,on the cam chain being stretched really nasty and causing your noise..

Get a new chain, tensioner assembly(the one way bearing wears out) and the pin that goes through the tensioner..also the tensioner spring...

Sorry sonny the way to check if the cam chain is stretched is to put the engine at TDC and then check the cam timing alignment marks. If the marks at 9 and 3 o'clock don't line up with the edge of the head THEN the cam is stretched. BTDT....

True......but if the chain lifts easily off the sprocket it is stretched too...just like a drive chain.........either way works well..alignment marks being off is definately a clear sign,,unless the head has been shaved, then the alignment marks will be off even with a new chain..

I had filed mine down, but there's not much you can do about the inner hub which will be grooved also. CW did me a new one. :D

The bike shop did not have the right main jet:huh... I figure I can just fill up the one that's in it now with JB Weld... poke a pin in it while it dries. Should work OK:lol3

They had the jets. Waiting on the needle and NOSS adapter to come... :clap Garage smells pinesol fresh too!:rofl
