I went for a simple wastewater tube mounted on a Teneres Motorprotection. But next time I will go for the tooltubes as well:

What kind of caps do you have on the exhaust valve access holes in the head?

They are called ViCaps and are sold by KEDO.de in Germany.
A friend of mine manufactured these himself and had a spare couple for me.

They are meant to take more temperature off the cylinderhead, but i am not sure if its making a difference. When i get a chance, i will make some measures on the temperature with them fitted and without.

I made a new one in alu. But you can just cut out the "eye" that mounts over the gear-selector-shaft.

You can see it here, it only mounts with one bolt:

48 idlejet (+1 number), stock needleheights, and -1 number on both mainjets.

I did the same on mine,
just cut a small slot in the eyelet where the cove goes over the shaft
It's made of plastic , so you can do it with a sharp nife or box-cutter

Its from a 3AJ, the last models from 1988-1991.
It fits 100%, you only need to drill new holes for the screws in the front.

new here and new to xt600 as today I got a xt 600 1984 in trade it needs help 28xxx miles motor has been rebuilt never installed. But it's missing alot motor mounts, bolts, side covers, plastics, exhaust doesnt look correct, carb looks shot. Still trying to figure out what else is missing. How many years do the parts go up or down. will any of those parts from the tt600 or any other bikes work. I'm hoping to not have to spend a ton of money and making this cheap as I can for now once I sell my ninja the money will kick back, I would love to get her up and running soon. Any help would be appreciated.

Where are you at? Models and availability differ by country. The US had a run from 84-89 for that model. Almost every thing will cross except some changes to the head in 89.[ extra bolt] A lot of the tt stuff will fit. A little of the 90-95 will cross over but not too much. EBay is your only source for a lot of things. Be specific and I will try and fill you in on possible cross over parts. If you are outside of the US model ranges differed and went much further. Some parts discontinued here are available there. thumpthump

hey thank you for the response. IM in the US New Hampshire to be exact. The only things I'm looking to cross is cosmetics/exhaust and carb stuff. maybe some electrical. I'm missing most of the plastics my exhaust header is cracked on one of the ports. carb is stuck on I think the right side.
