After penalties it looks like Oregon Coast crew is 2nd in their class so far.

Actually, we should be first since we are the only one in our class. there are 3 or 4 rally car classes.

We have only missed 2.5 specials stages so far due to timing out because of suspension repairs on the stages.. We've been going through cheap struts like fisherman goes through tequila at adv events! :freaky

Some crazy stories to tell for sure! Having a great time, car is running perfect, hasn't used any oil or coolant.

Car has been under its own power since driving from Escondido!

Turns out Laura is an amazing navigator! Not much sleep. David and Cory are in the hotel perla garage downstairs changing out a bent front strut. Gotta go!

More after we cross the finish in cabo tomorrow!! :clap

Hey all! Thanks for following along! Quick update from my iPhone:

First of all we made it and crossed the finish line in Cabo! We had more strut issues and stopped to assist a fellow racer yesterday which then caused us to time out again. Because they start the slow vehicles last, They also have less time to make it to the later stages on timeod there are any issues. So the strategy then needs to change and u miss stages. I'm bummed about that but well be back. We set out to see if a stock car could finish this race and the short answer is yes, but not at race speeds. For that some suspension upgrades are needed.

Our Subaru ran flawlessly the entire race and the car never stopped running and was never trailered or towed! It is also still running great. A testament to David's engine build!

We got our trophy as class winners (only ones in class):lol3 and by what we have been hearing, impressed a few and maybe inspired a few more.

Laura was an amazing navigator and we had a blast together! It was extra special to be able to share this adventure!
We had a great chase team and David, Cory, Ted and Mike were fantastic. We were all gutted by Luke's motor failure especially considering the time he put into his project. I hope he will try it again next year!

We are also blessed in so many other ways as a rider died in this years race, just devastating.

Thanks for all of tour well-wishing and support! I will post up more details soon, going to go down and drink my coffee on the beach!

Glad you two made it safe and sound and had a good time to boot :clap
Now that you know where the weak points are, 364 days is PLENTY of time to sort out the suspension upgrades for next year.

Enjoy a well deserved leisurely trip back and good fishing!

Yup, Baja is tough on equipment! Lots of rocks!!

Awesome that the engine held up, should be good advertising for your engine guy. I imagine you already have plans for suspension upgrades for next year? :ear
