Next up - a "hybrid" top box that combines a KP-1 lower with flat bottom with a KP-3 hinged, beveled lid with the nicer Protex hardware. For pricing, I just averaged the two styles together, which ends up being $200.

Overall dimensions to customer specs: 13"L x 15"W x 14"H.

Lid will be fabbed in the morning followed by assembly of hardware.

Nice Kirk, very nice.

Got the tire mounted and I'll balance it in the morning and put the bike back together. I'll give you a shout when it's ready to ride.

Those boxes came out schweete.

I was going to ask what you ended up thinking about those hinges.

I would expect it takes some of the labor out of things for you and yet offers what appears to be a very robust hinge arrangement.

What's the ding $$$ on a pair of those in raw silver, as pictured then?

Are those about 37 liter?

I am getting schwetty palms.

I say "Dang".

$550 per pair for the KP-3 style in raw aluminum. I don't offer powder anymore.

I like the hinges so much that I just ordered several more sets in various finishes and will update post one when they show up.

I'm not smart enough to figure out liter size. Lol. They are 20"L x 10"W x 18"H, so they are whoppers! (They can be any size within reason for the same price.)
20x10x18 = 3600 cubic inches = ~59L

Sounds easy, until you take the beveled edges into account.

Jim

PS Maybe I will fill mine up with water some time.

Now for something totally different...

How about some aluminum briefcases?

I believe the gent said he was putting them on a Ducati Sport Classic.

This is just the back half. Once the beveled lid is in place, overall width will be 5".

Different is good!

I'm curious... If I could send you the platform that my stock Yamaha top box mounts to, could you make a top box for my Tenere?

Mike's bike came out great Kirk! Rally clean look from that kind of boxes on a sleek bike.

Just curious though, how close is that rack to the muffler? It looks very close:

Your skills are getting to be super top notch!

By the way, I really like those hinges! I might have to get a set.
