As excited as I am, I hope I can keep it on 2 wheels in the elevation changes. The dips and crests will have to be respected at anything faster than a golf carts pace.

Meh... crash, know that that was just beyond the available traction, and reel it in from there.
(I know there's some people that'll take that the wrong way, it's a JOKE)

There's a very big difference in set-up (and money spent that you'll never get back) between streetbikes and racebikes. Just an FYI.

He'd no doubt be looking for someones retired racebike, something with all the sillymoney already spent.

You dirt guys...

Funny you mention that. I've coordinated a couple ADV track days here:

I just got a new toy, and I've been REALLY thinking about doing a day at NJMP this month -- October 22, to be exact:

If there is interest... and assuming I can get clearance from the wife I'll start a thread on ADV!

Hmm - sounds cool - I'd love to run with another KTM - Absolute can be a bit scary though. What group do you run in?

That gives me an idea... I think we should get a bunch of those little 50cc pitbikes and set up a miniature race course..

Have you done an Absolute ("ACE") day? I have not, but I have talked to more than a few people who have. It sounds pretty much like your typical track-day org.

I've been with Tony's and TPM. I thought Tony's was great. TPM, on the one day I was there, was a bit scary (for reasons I'm happy to discuss in PM or another thread if you're curious). From everything I've heard, ACE is probably pretty much the same as TPM.

All of this is to say: If you go to the track to race your buddy or "drag a knee," you will be sad. If you, instead, ride your own ride, set personal goals, and basically treat the day as if you were riding the best, most twisty, immaculate road, you'll have a great time regardless of which org you run with. IMHO.

I've never been with ACE, so my understand is that I'd start in their beginner group. I have been to NJMP/Thunderbolt three times and know the track and the line pretty well, but I'll leave it to the coaches to decide what is best.

Bumpity-bump!

A few of us are going to the NY Safety Track with TPM on May 26-27! If you sign up for the days, just look for the seven-foot tall guy on the black KTM 950 SMR.
