Southern Route - connector from PCQ to CDR

This winter I worked on a connector to tie the southern ends of the PCQ and CDR together to go along with the connector for the northern end I released in 2010.

It's about 90% complete, unfortunately I didn't realize it wasn't complete until after I got home from Arizona. The Forest Service has closed for the next two years a road I intended to use (Fossil Creek) but they didn't announce that until AFTER I left!

Anyways, I'll be posting this on GPXechange shortly.

No ride report, longer than I would have liked - looks like 5 days - but some good stuff. I had hoped it would be all big bike friendly, but that didn't work out. It was ridden on a DR650SE, so it's at least thumper friendly with some medium to really tough alternates.

Just rode yesterday on the GS, Northern CA Hwy 96 at Seiad to Applegate Lake in Oregon. All fire rd and a little snow above 4700 ft. Starting to get dusty here.
Met two guys from Southern Cal on there way south, had breakfast here.

tomasv-I live in central california and ride the area between hwy 120 and 108.We had a very dry winter-not to worry about snow.In the town where I live(Modesto) its getting 90+ degrees here later in the afternoon.Sooner would be better-less nasty red mountain dust.If you want a riding partner for the cali sections send me a pm.I ride a plated honda xr650r.

@ TOMASV - The CA leg north of LA would be perfect for a ride I'm planning from Jul7-21. Let me know if your timing gets pushed such that I could join you on that leg if you're interested. If not, enjoy!

Heading down to SanDiego now to start the Mexico to Tahoe leg of this route with my buddy. Here's the SPOT Adventures tracking map link:

I'll check in when I can. Really psyched!

Ran into father and two sons from Ohio who were riding PCQ near Hwy 50. They sent me active logs from LA to Yosemite. I posted my updated file with all the active logs I have on GPSXchange.com

A 1.5 meg filtered (max I can post) version is attached so those who are not familiar can get the general idea.

Does anyone out there have any active logs that could help?

Jerry

Good news, I have started working on PCQ again. It is essentially the same as the SMTS Route 3 from Tehachapi north. Since it is so warm, I just recorded new better tracks from Tehachapi to the Piutes and from Three Rivers to Hume Lake to the Kings River. As soon as high elevation ice melts in Mar/Apr, I will finish all new tracks from Tehachapi to Fish Camp.

Just saw this. It's better than good news, Jerry, it's fantastic news! Have you posted them on the exchange or are you waiting until you have finished?

Can't ride it until Spring and it has gaps where I got stopped by Ice, so will post there when done. But this is new:

Is there a paper road map you'd recommend for the trip?

Don't you have GPS? Print your own maps with my Tacks showing.

We have added a lot more dirt since he did it 10 years ago or so. I will be working on it weekend after next thru Sequoia then heading to Sierra forest as soon as snow clears.

Jerry,
Will you be updating the PCQ all over? I've got your All Trails tracks, but there are several editions of the individual track sets floating around. I don't know your process and just want to make sure I'm able to take advantage, meant as a compliment, of all your hard work.
