Thanks to the awesome staff at Scuderia West in SF my BBW will be making the treck to Baja in a few days. Close to 3k in damage. Last piece of the puzzle is my new Woody's front wheel. Tracking says I'll have it tomorrow.

Ok ok I get it. You guys like picture books like my twin kindergarteners. I've been slammed with work and bike repairs. I will send the Kiwis some pics of us out on the trail this weekend in baja. Maybe a pic of some San Felipe señoritas with my BBW!

Wife's still with me. I didn't take any pics of the pic all twisted up. To depressing. I'll send the Kiwis a pic of the scrap parts and one of the bike all back together.

Warning, religious based advice coming...

Use this opportunity to strengthen your marriage. As the head of household, you are responsible for everything your family does, even if it isn't your "fault".

Tell your wife it was your fault, because of where the bike was parked.
Tell her you love her dearly, and she is far more valuable than any material possession.
Tell her not to worry, that the bike is repairable/replaceable.

She will be so amazed that she will work hard to avoid future screw-ups that could fall upon your shoulders. She probably won't even question any future mods to your bike.

This whole arrangement was modeled for us by Jesus in the New Testament of the Bible, and is the basis for all Christianity. I have done my best to react this way for the last 15 years, and my marriage is the strongest one I know of.

Wife: "I crashed the car/ blew up the transmission drag racing/ scratched your bike."
Me: "Meh. Wanna go out to dinner?"
Wife: "Sure. You wanna blow job when we get back?"
Me: "Sure, right after I give you a back rub."

Get the idea?
When I read the incident, I saw it as an opportunity for improving family relations as well. Pretty much how you suggested (without the stuff about head of the family, what does that have to do with this? and assuming responsibility? Not needed unless you want to be condescending, not a good thing). And by the way, being a reasonable person is not a copyright or trademark of Jesus or Christianity. It is just common sense, good moral values that have nothing to do with religion.

If that was my bike, I know my girlfriend would appreciate if I did not yell at her, she would be feeling really bad for running over my motorcycle in the first place, especially if she knew I was getting ready for a trip. I would certainly calm her down. And I know I would get the treatment in bed over and over, and nice dinners, and breakfasts. I already get all of that without deserving anyway.

To the OP, I hope you get something together for this trip. It is nice to have people offering you suggestions and alternatives, a Husaberg sounds great.

I'm sitting at the airport in San Diego waiting on a couple of the crew. My 950 left Frisco this morning around 5 on my buddies truck. We will cross into Mexico first thing in the Morning.

And for those who must know, the wife has no gag reflex. Been putting it to the test

I didn't expect that, I choked on my sandwich while reading.
Then couldn't stop laughing.

Good thread!

Happy riding!
