O.K. here are a couple of pictures from last summer.
The picture of me standing in front of the Steelhead brewery is in Eugene Or.

I Am not real good at pictures, But I added these for you enjoyment. One is crossing the big bridge over the Sac river in Redding. As well as a lake in Oregon . Sorry I don't have them in order

I will be up at Weed Ca. for a few days and then catch out on a North bound. Anybody want to come. Going to riding the steel giant , with lots of wheels. If you think I am full of it, tag along. my F.T.R.A. friends may or may not approve, so you will kinda be on your own, as I don't pull a ton of weight with them. But enough to keep you alive if you mind you P's and Q's and follow my lead.

Seems like FTRA members might not be the best company for a new rider. I am not going to knock your friends but they do have a reputation for being a little unfriendly to outsiders. Bet they have stories for days though!

Enjoy your trip on freedom.

Yea, their bark is NOT worst than their bite.

Riding a Freight is illegal and dangerous!
Please don't go and try to do it!

Everything you said is true. Maybe that's why I fit in.

Really their getting older and less vicious.
I would be more worried about the illegal's that have rode here from Ecuador and Mexico. as I don't speak Spanish and they have nothing to lose.

You could get killed riding a Freight
You could get killed riding a motorcycle.
But an adventure is nothing without risk.

Without an Adventure, there would be no story.

Saturday Ride

Well the wife and kids were driving me nuts this week! I got the approval from the boss(the wife) to ride Saturday. Up at 530 a.m. wheels churning by 6. Went lower end of Hogsback off of 99 east to the lower slab, up Ishi Road to the upper end of Hogsback to Plum Creek Rd to Tramway to hwy 36 east to forest service road 17 towards Shingletown. Turned around halfway up do to time. Came back down Highway 36 East. Ran out of gas at the Iron Mountain Trailhead. That was mile 107. Not bad on a stock 500 exc tank. Used my extra gas can to get me home. 117 miles as I pulled in my driveway. All before 1p.m.! Now back to the craziness of the family.

Ponderosa/Lassen Trail/Panther Fire

Monday, a friend of mine and myself headed out around 6am to take the Lassen Trail to Deer Creek Meadows then back over Humbug Summit after lunch in Chester. We both hadn't ridden the Lassen trail between the Meadows and Ponderosa way and we knew the Panther Fire had been chewing its way around the canyon so it seemed like a good time to investigate.

Some of you were probably just clocking in when we were at the Bridge over Deer Creek.

I knew we were going to hit a burn area. I took last week off from 1 of my Jobs and spent 3 seperate days exploring the Lake Almanor area this side of 89. On the first trip up there it was just after the fire started and I could see smoke from what I thought to be up in Mill Creek Canyon as I had just turned onto Humbolt Rd. off of 32.

I was shocked when we were climbing out of Deer Creek Canyon and hit the burn so soon...

These next few photos are for comparison from a similar ride in Dec of last year. These are taken at the Ishi Monument..

Bluhduh That just sucks.

What a bummer.
I love that area. Well, mother nature will just have to do her thing. I didn't realize it was that close. Thanks for posting Jeramie.
