Modesto area riders group

I'll be staying in Patterson for a few months and would like to meet up with some riders from the local area. Other areas I've been had groups that got together for weekend rides and food and drinks during the week. Is there anything like that here? If not, any interest in getting a group started?

Primarily interested in backroad touring, seeing the sights and big bike friendly off road.

Hey just saw your post here. Try your post again in this thread... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593252

Also, check out www.cyclespecialties.com and also call DA Cycles (both in Modesto.) They both do more-or-less monthly shop-rides catering to all types of riding, including off-road/dualsporting.

Jay-if you get bored you can ride Del Puerto canyon road west to Mt.Hamilton obseratory or go right and ride Mines rd.There is always a lot of bikes at the junction on the weekends.Lots of good riding east of Modesto-clean or dirty-or very dirty.A good ride hwy 132 east to 120.South on 120 to cherry lake rd.Cherry lake rd to Tuolumne city -back to modesto on 108.I have both a street bike and a dual sport bike. There is a maze of dirt forest service roads on the north side of Yosemite that run all the way to hwy 108 .Mucho riding but you have to put in an hour or so to get out of the valley.A long day ride is 108 to 395.395 north to 89.89 to 4 .4 west back to Modesto via country roads.Sonora pass is awesome-I think much better than Yosemite.Send pm for info or to go on a ride.

Thanks for that. Rode the canyon this morning. Lots of bicyclists and some cows were loose and hanging out on the road. An interesting, fun ride.

I'll be checking out those FS roads soon, they sound great.
