I wonder if the new Yamaha race boss hasn't lost his way a bit since Furusawa left?

What are the chances of a Tech 3 CRT effort with Colin Edwards and Brad Smith on Yamaha lease engines/private chassis with Cal Crutchlow and Pol Espargaro on full prototypes?

There was a rumour about a three bike Tech 3 effort next season but as ever it would depend on finances I guess (plus if their Moto 2 chassis is anything to go by Tech 3 might not be the best partners for an M1 engined hybrid!)

They certainly have their hands full with Moto 2. Yamaha might fund a Yamaha engined project though.

I know that CE II has wanted a Yamaha motor since the beginning of his CRT odyssey. And Yamaha US has been treating him like he is still a Yamaha rider, so I was just wondering.

I am not sure Tech 3 would be allowed to run 3 prototypes by the current rules, but anything is possible. Silly rule limiting the # of prototypes, IMHO.

I personally don't think Cal does himself any favors by his tactics of criticizing Yamaha at every opportunity.

Ducati got cold feet when he went around telling everyone they had a deal before it was done.

I want one too. Doesn't mean Yamaha would be best served giving me one . . .

It makes commercial sense to have a Yamaha on the top step. At this point, developing the bike for Rossi might just make JLo 4th.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the 3rd bike rule. Remember how quickly that pesky "Rookie Rule" vanished?
If the proto teams want it, and are willing to fund it, I can't imagine it not happening. IRTA is the tail wagging the Dorna dog. Quietly, but effectively.

He either didn't learn from last year about running his mouth too much or he doesn't care. Guessing the latter.

That's what's so cool about Cal.

I agree, to a degree. But I still don't think it is doing his employment horizon any good. I think when Ducati realized what a loose cannon they potentially had on their hands, they couldn't sign Nicky quick enough.

BTW Nicky is the one who opted for a one year contract with Ducati. Ducati had offered a 2 year deal, as I understand it.

I think Cal is capable of podiums and a few race wins. I don't think he would ever be Moto GP WC.

I don't think Cal needs to be a PC ass kisser. Edwards always speaks his mind and it hasn't hurt his longevity in the least. In fact, it's an asset with most teams, thin skinned Ducati however, not so much.

Rossi will never win another race. There, I said it. Carry on...
