Was it worth the trip? Did you try anything else?

It was to me. I only got the maple bacon bar (two of them) to go along with the Rogue beer of the same name.

I didn't go to the original location downtown as I couldn't find a good spot to park, I went to the one just a bit away from it.

I don't eat too many donuts, but this one is worthy; the maple and bacon bar from Voodoo Donuts original store in downtown Portland. I rode from So Cal to eat one and it fulfilled my needs:

Alonzo's Key West

Where we go for half price appetizers and reliable seafood
(google "pork bungs calamari" if you want to worry about that)
at A and B (Alonzo and Berlin) Seafood on Front Street.

Plus plenty of two wheeler parking nearby:

Europe Food Experience

Last September I flew over to Germany and did a tour with a buddy that is currently stationed there. It was hard to NOT feature food every day on our journal. Oddly, my first German food experience once we rode away from the tour place was a Turkish "Doner" stand. I had a Doner Kebab, and it was awesome!

This was my first lunch in Italy ever. It was a big deal for me as I'd always wanted to go to Italy and LOVE "Ameritalian" food. It turned out I loved real Italian BETTER than American Italian....

At Psso Del Erbe we had lunch. What was funny was the menus were only in Italian and our waiter didn't know English. I pointed at something that I recognized a word or two and this is what I got. It was DELICIOUS! Gnocchi with spinach, and a great slaw salad, and of course a Weizen!

My buddy oredered Beet ravioli with gorgonzola sauce. I told my mom when I joined the AF and left home I would never eat beets again as long as I lived. I though Jim was nuts but his ended up tasting better than mine!

The Italian version of pizza was ALWAYS good,

And how else to end a trip to Germany except for-----

Problem was I planned poorly and we left Munich on the morning that Oktoberfest started! Oh well, we got to "pre-party" with people the night before!

Was stationed in Germany for 2 years before I got out last summer. Best time ever. Food was amazing. I do miss the donars... Just wish my job while I was there afforded me a LOT more time to explore the amazing place.

Did you ride to Rogue to get the beer that was inspired by this treat?

This is crushed broad beans mixed with olive oil, cress seed, parsley, onions and lemon. Delicious

The one on the left is chicory and chard seed served with yogurt and garlic served on top. The one on the right is salicornia (collected from seashores) served with garlic on top. Very useful stuff for the body.

Taken during a daily trip this Sunday.

I think salicornia is called samphire in the UK.
