I remember reading somewhere that this would however need a signifigant re-engineering of the cyl heads.(?)
I think they have already relaxed the restrictors. Not sure if they have allowed them to go unrestricted, though.

With Checa so banged up, it is hard to tell what the bike is capable of.

Restrictors were enlarged 2mm (50 to 52mm) at Monza. Ducati said that they got maybe 2hp from the change.

Batta proposed that Max would be hired as a test rider/ PR draw. There would have been 11 races where the team would stay at the track an extra day and various journos/VIPs/High rollers invited. Biaggi would get a chance to ride the bike hard, give feedback and schmooze with the peeps. Biaggi would already be on scene in his capacity as a commentator for Italian TV. Gobmier reportedly didn't respond to this proposal for nearly 3 weeks.

Now, you might be asking yourself, "Self, why isn't Biaggi doing something like this for Aprilia?" Word is that Max didn't retire so much as Aprilia couldn't/wouldn't meet his salary demands, saying they wouldn't have enough money to hire a competitive 2nd rider. While we're on the subject, Leon Camier had a recent interview where he said that when he started doing well on the RSV4, his bikes mysteriously lost some speed. Hmmm...

I know it's not WSBK, but I reckoned yuz would be interested anyway. Glen Alerton was Oz Supers Champ a cupla years ago, and looks to be on track for it again this year. The race in question is a 500 km endurance event, with a winnertakeall purse of $100,000.

Funny what a fat purse will do for a grid

The Toyota 200 at Willow Springs was a great example of that.

Any possibility that this could have been the case over at Yamaha MotoGP in the previous 2 years. Maybe instead of loss of speed, maybe a loss of reliability??

Or Haga's attempt to salvage his career?

We would be happy if it just generated some TV time.

I loved Haga in his prime. He used to really be fun to watch.
