Whatchudoin on my Texas thread? How'd you find me here?

Back to your question: Maybe it has to do with mosquitoes? LOL

You design the ride, they will come.

I saw the thread and remembered reading about it in geography back when I was a young displaced Arkansan growing up in Mesquite, TX. Then I saw your name attached and wondered what you had up your sleeve!

I forgot about the mosquitoes around here since they haven't made their presence known yet... but they will here in another month!!!

So it comes down to mosquitoes and ticks or rattle snakes and scorpions?

Don't forget about the beloved little fire ant! We don't have those up here in NE Arkansas (yet). I used to say that about armadillos too.

Everything is moving north. Ten years ago finding a Crested Caracara north of the Nueces was pretty rare. They're getting common in South Texas now and that goes for a lot of species. Welcome to the new normal.

Saw a pair of Caracaras in Aransas Wildlife Refuge a few years ago and thought WTF is that? Yeah, the fire ants are the worst, at least a rattler lets you know its there. Enjoy the staked plains.

That's a few miles north of Turkey on Highway 70.

So do I. Rpm cycles is the nearest and that's 375 miles one way.

Btw, Turkey is the home town of Bob Wills, the father of Western swing. It's just 12 miles east of Quitaque, if that makes it any easier to find.

Just this past weekend my father and I road from Amarillo to Turkey on some really great county roads. If you want I might be able to send you our gps routes, it was around 300 miles round trip and took us about 8 hours if you count us getting lost on some ranchers land.

Did you take the dirt road through the JA ranch?
