BackRoads

That is awesome, great news and kutos to you for thinking of it, and following up with them!
And thanks to BackRoads Maps for recognizing your work and acheivment!

I have their MB and NW Ont book, great to have in combo with a GPS, great detail! For those of you folks that haven't picked one up yet, now regrets. ESPECIALLY the NW Ont book for me, sooo many logging roads there....

Keith and his buddy leave from New Zealand in about a week to pick up a set of wr250's on the East Coast then they begin their expedition following the TCAT.

A few more groups in their final planning stages...TCAT season has started

Hey ted, I'm on the trail now and checked out the higher
Pass last night and it is free of snow... So the Island section
is good to go... One area near Woss has a washout, but
We easily maneuvered around it with fully loaded
Bikes...

Kevin is starting from here. Damned fine ride just to get this far. I made this offer to him so I make it to all. Anybody wants to ship anything for the start from the East is welcome to PM me. I am on the tent space map as well.

If I still had every dollar I spent on motorbikes I would be a richer man but a poorer person.

I have the back road map books and also their SD card for my Garmin 660 so I really look forward to their adding it to their electronic version via updates.

I will contact them to congratulate them on their collaboration by adding this :)

Update from Sask. The technical section southwest of Dundurn (just south of Saskatoon) is not open right now. There are cattle in there with new calves, and the owner told us that we shouldn't ride through there. Use the bypass section (which I believe is the main route anyway).

Finally no snow in Sask (except a bit in shady areas) and it has been dry here this spring, so I would strongly discourage fires of any kind unless they're in a proper fire pit.

Go Kevin!

Great news to hear the Island section is ready to go in May.

I sure can't say that for the BC Mainland section of the TCAT for a while yet. Still lots of snow pack to melt in the higher elevations and with all the heavy rain around the province right now, we are starting to see some of the normal flooding from swollen rivers. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't loose too many bridges or have too many wash outs along the route during the next couple of months.

I'm planning on exploring the higher areas of the route at the end of June and will take a tally of what is open and what parts of the route that will be detoured around.

If things go well, hopefully the entire route will be open by mid July.
