Donner Pass this Sunday, 5/19?

It's unlikely that we will get very far, but I'd like to carry a chain saw + shovel & take care of any work the lower sections might need.

Leave from JJ's in FoCo at 10am?

Josh showed me pictures from last weekend. Too much snow.

Anyone up for a big bike ride?

Rist Canyon, Stove Prairie, Manhattan Road to Redfeather lakes. Possibly Prairie Divide road, depending on snow & time. Leaving JJ's at ~1:15pm. Short ride due to schedule commitments on both ends.

When does Donner usually open? I have no idea why but feel as though I must ride it for my life to be complete

Not sure there is a "usual". Last year, it was the first weekend in June.

This year we've pushed trail clearing out to June 16 and still may not get thru all of the trails.

We'd love to have you join up and help out. Guaranteed to be a pretty slow pace as we work our way thru all the deadfall.

I may do that sir, thank you for the invite. The difference in snow levels amazes me. We are riding stuff down here three weeks to a month earlier than what I consider normal. These pics are three weeks old and I should not have been able to get to these spots, even today I should really have to work for it, let alone three weeks ago. I am afraid if we don't get something soon they are going to lock the gates by the end of June.

Nice big bike ride yesterday.

Up at Redfeather Lakes, we broke out a pair of binoculars & scoped out the Bald Mtns. There is still a bunch of snow up there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for being able to get thru in 4 weeks. With the storms rolling thru, we got spit on by rain/sleet a few times.

Thanks Mark. BTW, your twin has joined ADV. You need to get out for a ride with Mike sometime.
