Laugh F800GS SIDE KICKER....finally

Here ya go!

To Side Kicker Pre-Order 800GS Owners;

For those of you that have waited so patiently we are pleased to announce the Side Kicker for the F800GS is now available.

The pre-order buy will be $289 plus shipping compared to the retail price for the kick stand of $349 plus shipping.

Since it is not on the Web site yet there are 2 ways to order.

1. Let me know you are interested and I'll send a Request For Money through Pay Pal.

2. Call me direct at 989-274-3857 with your Credit Card information

Although most of you provided me with your mailing addresses, that needs to be confirmed at the time of the order.

This offer will be good only until July 18th.

On July 19th they will be at the regular price on line and available at the MOA Rally in Sedalia (at a slightly reduced show price).

If you know anyone else that may be interested in the pre-order please forward this on.

Thanks very much for your interest and patience while this was developed for the 800GSes.

And our thanks to Fred for his assistance and persistence to build this for the 800s, as we probably would not have done it for quite a while without it. Thanks, Fred!

Regards;

Steve Ruth

I got my SideKicker about a month ago, but have been busy and didn't get around to getting it installed until yesterday. Man it is so nice not having the bike lean over so much! Well, it does at the stock position, but one click out is perfect!

I rode to work, the space was on a slant. Kicked the stand out one more notch... and it was perfect!

I did notice that the further out you adjust the stand, the less flat the base of the stand sits, but that's unavoidable without some kind of pivot. Adding something like that would increase the cost and add a weak point - it's not worth it.

Everyone that's seen it admires the beauty. The welds could be a bit smoother, but I personally don't care. It's a friggin kickstand. You only notice that stuff holding up the uninstalled part.

The stand seems to be a bit more beefy than the stock stand, which is very good, because I've been going through stands. The slightest bending starts to make the bike lean over way too much. But with the SideKicker, it never leans over too much.

It was pricey, but I'm a happy camper. Just think of all the extra riding I can get in now that I don't have to circle around looking for an uphill slant to park on so as to give the kickstand a boost?

Thanks to FredRydr for setting this up for us and for Steve and anyone else at AKS Engineering for their fine product!

Glad to hear a good review of it! I'm kicking myself for not getting one...I meant to order before the cutoff, but kept getting distracted, and let time get away from me... On well!

And the rest

If its $350 in the US it will be at least $500 here in Australia - bit rich for a side stand.

The stock stand goes for $180 here in the US. And it sucks.

Did Steve Ruth tell you this? Or are you just exaggerating to make your point?

Freight for mine to Australia was $48.00 US. I thought that a little rich compared to other items I have bought from the US but paid it anyway and this is not Steve's fault as I am sure the larger stores can negotiate a better freight rate due to bigger volume, at least that is how it works here. Add that to the $350.00 and our exchange rate and you will lob it here for under $400.00.

The stand arrived in 7 calendar days from despatch so that impresed me. The workmanship was outstanding and the stand works a treat. The lean angles, measured using the Iphone on the rear box (I know, not extremely accurate but the differences between the positions would be accurate),

Original Stand 20.0 degrees (anything less than level ground it was a real worry it would fall, and sometimes did)
AKS Full In 16.5 degrees
AKS 1st out 12.5 degrees
AKS 2nd out 8.5 degrees
AKS Full out 4.0 degrees (was very careful letting go)

Now Steve tells me the length of his stand fully in is identical to a new original one so the difference to my original stand is how much it had bent with use.

The stand also seems to sit in closer to the bike than the original one did as the original used to scrape often when cornering and this one hasn't (yet). I have tought about putting the old one back on to measure the differences where they sat but it won't acheive much, other than calm my curiousity.

I am not on this site much any more (I find the Oz moderators, well lets say annoying) so if you wanted to ask any more questions message me. I am happy to send photos or arrange to meet anyone who wants to see the stand first hand. I only logged in to add voice to how happy I am with the product and the service.

Cheers

I'm back from my trip and my side stand held out, a minor miracle in itself... then I remembered this little project. Anyone got any pics of the finished product?

Thumb

Just ordered one for my F800GS. Sick and tired of the crappy stock stand.
I'm about to ditch the stock centrestand also in favor of a more modern version from wunderlich.de.

I'm amazed that a seasoned factory like BMW couldn't fabricate a better side stand. Just looking at it - it's a design flop. Rest of the bike is very good, and I really enjoy it though

Thumb F8GS SideKicker arrived in Norway.

Allow me to give full appraisal to AKS Engineering for a quality piece of kit Oh, and the bike was recently used through some green lane/two-track puddles. Hence usage patina

For the record: Took some fumbling before I figured out how to retract the extended stand, but watching the instructional video was, ahum useful
