I saw the cruiser up close and personal yesterday, and it is simply stunning. Beautifully put together, and the new techy features (4 valve heads and the neat instruments) blend perfectly with the old.

They have a winner for sure.

Got to sit on and here one run today from Moto International at the Snohomish Bike Show. Sounded a little too mellow(it was stock), egros felt good, overall I like it. I wasn't sure by looking at the pictures of it but in person it is quite attractive! It sure torqued to the left when throttle was applied in neutral. Gathered a good size crowd, I think Guzzi has a American sales hit on it's hands.

Motorcyclist has a very positive review on it this month.

They pretty much touched on every aspect of the bike and were quite complimentary about it. No mention of engine heat - the big bugaboo for me. Let's see.

I took one out on a 15-30 ride a couple weeks ago. The dealer is very nice to let me take spin even though I was just passing through......I'm 5'6" tall so I'm reaching a little riding it but not bad....First off it had very good power right off idle till I was going oh shit mph. I liked the heel toe shifter cutting off a little of the rear part like that was done in another post is the first thing I would do. Well built ,smooth and with cc . I was very impressed

valve adjustment

Has anyone ACTUALLY check valve clearances on the 1400? Frank Wedge claims a special tool is needed and several people on the 1400 forum say no. PLEASE clear this issue up if you know for sure.

Under the fancy valve cover, it's the same arrangement as the 1200 8v.

I have not heard of some special tool being required for adjusting the valves.

saw one for the first time today. - black and beautiful. Guzzi is having a renaissance. Its a nice bike, and will look even better after it gets some road character.

I think the fancy tool is called a "feeler gauge".... :-)

Cheers,

M

Even after Patrick the service manager at Moto International said NO SPECIAL TOOL NEEDED Frank swore he could not get a feeler gauge to go in. Maybe his valves have closed up. He is so stubborn and a real know it all. He threatened to not send me the monthly password for the newsletter (I'm a life member) because I told him he didn't need a special tool to adjust the valves.

If that is actually true and accurate he's a dipshit. But I'll reserve judgement because I wasn't there
