Nope, I did not mount em myself. Took em in and had them done, I got a local guy that does both for $45 total if you hand carry them in and leave overnight and they balance em.

I may spoon on the next set though (budget dictates) as it would be good practice.

Road last night in the rain (not by choice), speeds up to 70, very confident tire, even at in what is probably the last 500 miles of their service life here.

Yeah i remember them being a really good street tire. I used to ride rain or shine when i had the KLR since i don't like being in traffic and those tires would grip like no other. Hadn't tested them off road yet but i will when i get them!

I have always wanted to do the tires myself just in case i were to get a flat somewhere i the middle of nowhere and also i am very cheap. Had some bad experiences with mechanics so i am taking a break from the "pros".

If you don't mine my asking, how much was the whole set up? A guy near me is selling a 29,000 mile klr with farkles for $5000 so im thinking of making him an offer for the guards and highway pegs, the exact set you have above.

thanks!

Any pics of the Shinko 705's mounted? They look like it would give the KLR an almost Super-Motard look.

I've been in rain that made people question my sanity, snow, ice, mud, and lotsa dirt, they are perfect for me because between the bike and my skills all seem to come together with these tires.

You mean like this? Though thats a pirelli on the front. Spooned on a Shinko 120/17 shortly thereafter. Rear is a 150/17.

I was recommended the site by the guys at the BMW dealer where I bought it. They have a ton of duel sport guys that seem pretty legit.

So far I have seen a lot of good info, trying to read a little before I just start asking a bunch of questions...I am not much of a forum guy, but we'll see how it goes. :)

Yeah people question my sanity (or I should lack of) when I tell them I ride rain or shine. I found these tires to be easy to trust too

Decided to repaint the already spray bombed plastics. Went with a darker tan instead of the usual green. It just seems to fit the bike IMHO. Just as I was putting it all back together the mail man showed up with my DirtRacks Pannier mounts so I installed them and then got to work putting the mounting bits onto some over sized ammo cans I had left over from my old YJ buggy I had long since parted ways with. I also did the "Wheat-Whacker" mod to the front fairing and will see later on how much of a difference that makes in the wind department. Eventually I want to get a different fairing entirely so this is just a cheap and simple experiment.

All painted up

Pannier mounts installed, I hope I don't ever find out how effective a bumper that rear cross-brace makes.

Another side shot

With ammo can pannier
