SWMotech crash bar bags by Storm Industries

Quick gear review specific to the Parallel Universe and SW-Motech crash bars.

If you’re following this thread, Custom Sewing and Cordura Items, then you know about inmate corrado113’s wicked textile skills. I sent him a rough template and he made a couple of small bags for an F800GS (and likely F650GS twin, et all) SW-Motech rack. They’re perfect for a heavy duty inner tube (front or rear). Very handy.

Here’re some photos. Highly recommended. Price was about $60 plus shipping for the two bags.

(Also including a shot of his standard Kermit chair bag which has nice daisy chain loops for a more secure attachment.)

Yeah - I keep thinking about that, but I guess any tool/spare placed in side bags could be damaged too - although much less risk. I've seen these kinds of bags on KTM 990/950's and BMW 1200 GSAs too and jumped at the chance to have a set made for the SW Motech bars.

The two tubes always took up so much of my tool space. I'm glad I have them where they are now. We'll see if I regret it later. And yes - I carry two tubes. I did the old use a 21"-in-the-rear-for-an-emergency-trick once. Worked great. Then I had to change it again when I got home and I considered that 21" tube un-useable after it had been crimped to badly into the rear 17" tire.

I guess I could always store socks and underwear in a waterproof bag if I was too worried about damaging tubes.
