Took the MSF Dirt Rider course the other day...
So there I was.. one of eight riders on my shiny '03 KTM 640 Adv... five other riders were on 450's, one on a 250, and one on a 80... good times.
It was my first real debut on the dirt. Good class for me and for just the basic fundamentals. I as I was going through the class I wondered how different it is or is not from the Jimmy Lewis course.
We started with some starting and stopping, turns, tighter turns, weaving, etc. Quickly I learned that I needed to drop my air pressure down from 30+ psi down to around 15 psi.. That only helped so much as the ground was pretty loose.
We eventually then when to hills and turning on hills.. fun stuff. then stopping while going up and down hills.. even more fun..
Later we finished the MSF portion and did some riding over small obstacles.. riding over small logs lengthwise.. practiced jumps.. then finally 90 degree turns.. kept the bike up... but I'm already planning on borrowing a buddy 'o mine's second dirt bike.. a 250 and practicing a little harder the techniques I've learned..
Has anyone else out there taken this course?
