Love open wheel at Indy. It's a special event at a special track.

I still don't like the new cars. That bodywork around the rear wheels makes them look funky.

We have an IndyCar thread, for anyone who's interested in commenting on the series. The race in Brazil two weeks ago had a spectacular finish.

I remember that race against Al Unser with Al Jr getting in the way as a lapper. Sneva seemed to have a lot of great battles. Wasn't he leading near the end when his CV joint failed? He was a fun guy to watch. Seemed like he was in a new car every season too. I always thought of him as sort of mercenary in that way. The hired gun.

Thumbs down No, Nothing worth while.

The only thing that will save Indy is if they somehow manage to get it on the Formula 1 schedule. That may save the 500, the series is toast! They have never recovered from the split and even another DP won't save it.
The cars are stupid looking, at least a LP is a good looking car. I would also say that half the Lemans and SCCA drivers are better than any of the Indy guys.

There are zero good drivers in SCCA or American Lemans. Just a bunch of rich guys trying to be somebody they aren't plus a handful of has-beens to lend a little legitimacy to the grid.

I am sure many of the Le Mans drivers would take offense to this, but to me it is a completely true statement.
