3G isn't going to pull 1.5Mb/s like ever. The fastest I have seen is around 900Kb/s

4G LTE gets in to the 14-18Mb/s range, but you can't count on 4G anywhere outside of a major metro. The coverage just doesn't exist.

Hey I've been hearing a lot about the Wilson Sleek and other antenna boosting products.

Know anything about them?

Verizon now has 4G out in parts of rural VA and are expanding it big time. 3G I wouldn't stream Netflix on but on my cross country trip I almost never went out of Verizon coverage and listened to streaming radio most of the way.

Not true. I've had 4g in Moab, Rawlins, WY and I have it here in Gering, NE, on the Verizon network. This is all within the last 2 months.

Two things lad. First click on that link I supplied above and read it. Next, take a trip to the http://3gstore.com/ and check them out. I use this antenna: http://3gstore.com/product/3047_3g4g...i-antenna.html
when I'm out in the sticks. It consistently adds a couple of bars.

I am working in the oilfields about 80 miles north of Laredo. I have one of the Wilson small business boosters that work off of house current in my RV. It seems to work because a lot of phone users have discovered that the signals are unusually strong just outside my RV.

Two utility trailers nearby have the same system on mast antennas. http://www.rakuten.com/prod/wilson-e...l?listingId=-1 should give you more detailed info.

The 12 volt systems are very popular in pickup trucks.

Yes you can. You can use anyone elses' upgrade, just not your own. Go figure. But my Dad just did it. Guy at the Verizon store told him how to jump through all the hoops.

I've found my iPad with a data plan from Verizon to be really useful. Think it's about $30 a month and it can serve as a mobile hotspot for my PC.

How much data can you get for $30? Surely not much...

Part of a corporate plan where data is pooled. So all I want. YMMV.

The 4G service has been pretty good, get it in most of VT despite a lot of hills. I also now use the iPad as my GPS in the car or truck, because I can use the Waze app, which reports traffic and police whereabouts.....
