I also prefer the dual pickups in the caliper bracket as they are better shielded in the back. As I've still managed to rip out a cable back there, additionally I now use the protector from Rally Raid Products:

MakS,

That fairing support is looking SWEET! I would recommend a radius on the inside of the triangle cut outs though. The sharp corners will develop stress cracks no? Should be easy since you will likely get it laser or water jet cut anyway...

Nasty! Did the MD survive the impact?

Question, how often is the reset/mode button used on the remote during a rally and is it during a special or a non critical stage? Heres a pic of my prototype, im pretty happy with the result. The extra button top right will not work with some clutches so will scrap that idea. Which leaves me with 4 buttons... With this 4 i was thinking i could either run trip 1 and 2 +/- buttons and use the mode buttons on the trip itself or elsewhere, or run trip 1 +/-& mode, trip 2 mode only (no+/-). What would be the most useful configuration?

I saw these units today in the flesh. The photos don't do them justice, they are well thought out and the prototype's finish is top notch. Put me down for a couple as well.

On the Tuareg Rally there were lots of trip-km resets during the day, so it was critical that you had good access to the reset/mode button. I only used trip 2 to count overall kms for the day, so basically never had to adjust it.

In my - admittedly limited - experience, I think the classic 3 button layout of the F2R, RNS, etc switches will work much better in practical application.

Thanks for the responses! I just need to find an economical way of reproducing the housings. Anyone know what type of plastic is ideal for this application? The prototypes are CNC ABS plastic, however Im concerned that ABS will break too easily on impact. Any other plastics preferred to ABS? If I go the casting route instead of CNC, what about epoxy vs polyurethane?

Nope, unfortuantely not, the GPS holder bent inwards and this cause the MD Roadbook to collapse next to the electric motor.

Trying to fix that now with the spare roadbook that I have.

with regards to 'zero-ing' the ICO units, you might do it three times a day. More then 50 times a day you would be adjusting the totals, slightly up and down.
