This thread has:

-Predictions for Rossi to win in the dry
-Predictions for Rossi to win in the wet
-Dissing of Pedrosa (Ok all threads have that)
-Absolute surety that Marquez would crash in the wet
-Capirossi made evil
-Lorenzo alternately whinning and standing up for himself in the press conference
-Lorenzo/Capirossi feud begins
-Ducati hope

-A MotoGP race took place somewhere along the way
-Mild (tepid?) Pedrosa respect
-Marquez crowned as Second Coming
-Rossi written off as has been
-Brit Ecstasy
-Ducati dreams dashed

-Spies bashing
-Jarvis bashing
-Secret Yamaha bike switch conspiracy
-Frame count minutia

And we're only four days removed from the race! So much potential.

Apologies for being a dick -- you have sources that can't be revealed, fine.

Thing is, the bike swap is irrelevant. At Qatar'12, Spies was 4th in FP1, FP2, QP and was in 4th at the first turn of the race. He ended up in 11th. He complained of chatter, but his teammate won the race. The absolute, number one rule of motorcycle racing is beat your teammate, and if there are 9 places between you and your teammate, you're liable beyond the usual setup issues.

Round 2: Spies 11th, Lorenzo 2nd. "I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike."

Round 3: Spies 8th, Lorenzo 2nd. "As I told the team, I made four or five big mistakes during the race, they cost me time and places. It was a rough race but I’m continuing to build my confidence, I don’t enjoy Estoril so I’m happy to have finished."

Round 4: Spies 16th, Lorenzo 1st. "We actually got off to a good start at the beginning then had a very big moment on the line, something happened because then I had quite a lot of water coming in through my helmet and couldn’t see much on the first five laps."

Round 5: Spies 10th, Lorenzo 1st. "I just made one mistake in the race and blew our chance."

When your teammate is winning or getting second, these kinds of explanations sound a lot like excuses.

I thin it's safe to say that if anyone is still reading this thread for Le Mans results, they're probably in need of psychotropics.

Or maybe the data doesn't lie and they could see as with Rossi before he left, that Lorenzo was carrying higher corner speed and that's the requirement to win given the tires and electronics.

Watching the Le Mans race it seemed visually noticeable from the overhead shots that Rossi looked slower mid-corner than the top four (before Lorenzo psyched himself out). And Spies's requirement for old school late breaking was not going to get him the race wins he needed because the data told them that.

Stoner is a freak because he seems able to ride either style and it appears Marquez can too (although give him a few years and well see if his neurons betray him if the pendulum swings back to point and shoot bikes).

P.s. I don't think Dovi is getting anywhere near the love he deserves for last weekends performance.

Good call. Though he didn't get on the podium, I don't remember seeing him make one mistake on-camera. Pedrosa and Marquez made a bunch between them.

This thread also has;
- Lorenzo and Rossi riding a Yamaha that has lost it's way and is falling behind the Hondas.
- Crutchlow riding a Yamaha that is clearly factory spec and capable of fighting with the Hondas.

Uh, huh?

I know if you just look at the results (which ultimately are the only thing that matter), it looked like typical finishing order for Ducati. But DAMNED if it wasn't exciting to see Dovi out there on the sharp end, and not just for a couple banzai laps at the beginning.

Since we lost Simo, I haven't really had one particular guy I've been rooting for; I've just been hoping for good racing. And this season has really delivered so far. There have been processional elements when someone checks out, but it's pretty much impossible to guess who's going to be on the podium.

I think you are going to be right one of these times.

I found the race to be much more interesting with the Ducatis in the mix. For a while I even thought Dovi might win. And I can't remember the last time I saw Hayden running down the bikes ahead of him, even though Crutchlow and Marquez ran him down.

I sure hope they get the Duc competitive.
