1988 Honda Ch250 CDI Problem

ok I have a 1988 honda elite 250

I ordered a CDI and it showed up and it was a total of 6 pins. one clip had 4 and the other has 2.

MY CDI has 8 pins. 6 pins on one clip and 2 on the other.

Can anyone tell me why I have 8 total pins and everything I search is 6.

Thanks for the help

It looks like 1988 was a one year CDI. Monster scooter parts says it has one, for a lot of money. It "might" be the same as some weird Chinese knockoff. You can Google "parts Chinese scooters CDI" and look at the photos, and hope it shows up, and that it works. At least they are usually cheap. And worth what they charge, but not much more.

I agree that can happen, and it has happened to me. Unfortunately there is sometimes no choice but to gamble, and when you gamble you can lose. As far as I know, Las Vegas is still in business, so I guess some of us are willing to take a chance on an idea. Otherwise, we'd all be driving Camrys.

I would ask the yahoo ch 250 group about this. Someone going to have a cdi around that fits. Baring that they might know how to make a 6 pin one work for 8 pin one. What are the 2 extra pins for?
