The Oryx is a great bike.

The only complaint/s I had when we did the review was

1 - The power parts seat was too hard (harder than a 450 enduro bike)
2 - Suspension was to hard in the front (easily sorted)
3 - 16t front was too long for technical riding. Id slap the stocker on it and be happy to cruise at 130kph. With the 16 on, I could cruise at 150kph easily, but the bike wouldn't pull above 166kph on the speedo. I believe that the Akroprovic pipe did give it more grunt than the Leo Vince.

Its a great bike and turns heads. However, I like pillioning and riding fast when in a hurry. Im not confident that the bike will handle 150kph for hours on end like a 990 will.

Hell, what am I saying?! I love the bike!

been searching around for rally/adventure kits and found these

New 690 Oryx

and a rally carbon kit

anyone help them on already?

Looks the same as KTM Basel's Defy/Quest. I like the look.

PS. I thought the Oryx is only Touratech's BMW enduro kit.

The first one is KTM Cape Town's basic Oryx kit (around R130,000 installed with a new bike or around R40k separately), all locally manufactured, and the second one is their kit based around the 450 Rally fairing from KTM and a locally made tank. It's more expensive, uses a separate fuel pump in the front tank (I think the standard one is gravity fed) and requires re-routing of the exhaust in the lower rally position. But if youse wants the full rally look... :)

The last one is made by Omega in Johannesburg, and is their latest kit (around R50k as far as I know) in kevlar/carbon. Expensive, but very fancy looking.

Both of these kits are high quality and cater to the pretty big local market that wants a 690 adventure and/or to play at rallying. Our distances are pretty big and trips often involve plenty of high-speed riding, so there's a pretty strong preference for a 690 over a 500/530 for lightweight touring.
