Or something equally as boring as that.
A win-win for KTM then... although not sure how much of a PR coup that would be if a privateer beat the factory riders?

Nothing like malle moto, back-to-the-roots for the Patron.

I don't think CD will be anywhere near a KTM package but I am also thinking the announcement won't be Honda. I'm thinking he has been waiting on the Honda announcement and wants to put his plans out there just before so that whatever those are, it doesn't look like a reaction to not being on the HRC squad.

CD and his management is very tight with their info. Honda could still be an option and the reality is that I wold love to see CD stay on two wheels at least for another 2 years or so. He's got more to give. I've heard nothing regarding him from any source. They have been very secretive.

All that other gossip is boring, per above I think Cyril and Laia will announce their retirement from racing and their engagement and settling down in Andorra to have children and raise sheep.

I'm sure he is, but equally he is no fool - it took the full strategic might of factory KTM with no Coma this year, what with the shenanigans of the marathon day and Faria lying down for him on several occasions - was he really up to it and is he for 2 more future wins against a growing wolf pack - only he knows for now and maybe we will in what, 4 days?

Doubt it, those guys have years of experience and are the arguably the best off road rally drivers in the world.

I still say two wheels until he beats Perfecthannsels record

I think he is, and he knows he is...

Faria may have done his job and waited for him, but I do recall a few interviews where Faria said he was helped by Despres.

One that sticks in my memory is where he was saying Cyril had to pull him up and ask him what the hell he was doing, because he was going the wrong way.

Every year there seems to be someone who does well in the first half of the rallye, and then fall behind as the two KTMs start handing everyone's arses to them.

And until others learn to navigate as good as Coma and Despres, it will still be a two horse race.

And lets not forget that Cyril knows a butt load more about winning the Dakar than most of us, and I have every confidence that he will be putting himself in the best position to do so.

Or I'm wrong as usual and he retires to play professional quoits...

I just hope he stays on two wheels and on a bike and in a team capable of competing for the win. It's my personal opinion that rally is more interesting with Despres in the hunt. I wouldn't want to lose him to the non-competition of the current car field or the relative obscurity of the buggies.

I like him, but this year did seem kind of bland with no Coma, and no real competition...

So I also hope he gets a competitive two wheel ride.
