Hey Jim,

After I posted my message last night I did some searching and stumbled across your blog. Cool stuff. Friday Harbor is an amazing place. I have some real good memories riding the ferries and stomping around on Orcas and Lopez Island's. Deception Pass is another area that I used to play a lot, I would guess that to be roughly 20 NM from you...

Not exactly a scooter but close to you:

Jeeze... the wife has "Dancing with the the Stars" on TV (yes, we have satellite TV on the boat). Somebody help me!!!

Captain Jim
Here's a scooter ride report done in the area you are in. It might help, or it might make you regret not bringing your scooters even more. It's done by another couple who both ride their own scooters.

Well, not knowing if scooter-folk are enamored with cats (like the rest of the internet), I didn't want to over-do... but, since you asked...

The most recent photo of Izzy on top of the boat. She is a sweet little thing that goes where we go. (OK, we haven't put her on the scooters... yet.)

I wrote a book about traveling with Izzy's predecessor, Molly. (Cat On A Leash)

I clicked on that link, timmie. I understand that "clock is ticking" thing. I sold my V-Strom last month.

Klaviator, I didn't see a link to click.

Sendler, we spent the summer of 2009 cruising the Erie Canal, Hudson River, and up into the Trent-Severn. Great area up there! Hope you were able to stay out of the red stuff.

Thanks, folks.

GREAT story! Thanks for posting the link. I enjoyed it all... well, except that camping stuff... we used to motorcycle camp a few ... um, 40 years ago. And that "wipe out" thing. Yeah, done that , too, not that I want to talk about it... several months in physical therapy... nevermind.

It was people out on scoots. I LIKE that. Places close to where we are now. Yep, that's good. And people out on scoots... did I mention that part?

Thanks folks. I am feeling lousy today. Some kind of cold bug got me yesterday. Today, my lovely wife said, "Let go out for lunch - we'll find you some comfort food."

That sounded good. The cramps started part way through the meal. She wanted to go to the grocery story, I hauled ass back to the boat... "TWO EXITS! No waiting! EVERYONE OUT!!"

Yeah, I'm with you: I'd rather hear about scooter outings!

Sorry to hear about your current gastral discomfort Jim. Hope it is not sea sickness, or worse you might be pregnant

Sea sickness would be problematic in my profession, especially considering we are currently tied to the dock. As far as being pregnant, our daughter is 40 years old... it has been a LONG time since I had "that talk" with anyone. Perhaps you should get a PCX, timmie... chicks dig the PCX.

Gore-TX, post a photo of your cute wife on the scoot.

Castle, how 'bout something about the PCX in the BigHorns (I used to live in the Black Hills)?

Sendler, tell about riding on gravel.

Kmart, make up something about some wine, cheese and a picnic blanket in that topbox.

MaddieDog, how about that Daytona ride report?

Klaviator, any words of wisdom for the (boat)cabin-fever inflicted?

Sounds like a project!

Step 1: Find some free time and charge the camera.
Step 2: Pry PCX away from my 16 yo son and force him to ride Ruckus.
Step 3: Go for ride (that doesn't involve work or errands) and take photos.
Step 4: Post.

Sigh. I could just post pics of my GS in the Big Horns .....

PCX Farkle

Here is a little "Farkle" I found for my PCX.

It is a "MOLLE GEAR" pouch I found at a military supply store. It attaches to the handlebar with straps and snaps, has some elastic webbing inside. Eye glasses, camera, even a PPK will fit nicely and are easy to reach. The loops on the face invite anything with a hook or strap. I will be slipping a "sting stick" through them since the bees and others are coming out. They do come in black and digital, but the sand was all they had at the time.

Cheers!

I was out of town with the wife for the past few days. No riding whatsoever.
We spent the weekend in Los Angeles. I saw one PCX parked next to a Tesla car in Beverly Hills. I thought the PCX fitted right in. Lots more bike in Los Angeles than San Antonio. Beautiful weather.

I just got back from spending a week in Portland, OR. Drove up there and back in the car. It was cloudy and rainy the whole time. I loved it. My kind of weather. I'm really sick of Phoenix weather. I wished I'd had a bike to go riding on in the rain. There were certainly plenty of them out, mostly scooters. Everywhere I looked I saw scooters. I saw some PCX scooters, can't tell the difference between the 125 and the 150. In Portland, you either walk, ride a bicycle, scooter, or motorcycle, and/or take the train. No place to park a car.
