The DR has been sold to a good home! I was sad to see it go but with the GSA, g/s, and a TW200 the DR was redundant for my needs.

Just removed my front Heidenua K60 Scout , after 11,243 miles. I expected to need to replace these after my 600 mile round trip to the Old School Rally. I expected to see a lot of wear on that trip and didn't see hardly any!! Cool weather and rain may have helped tire life. I could have gotten more miles out of these, at least on the road maybe 600??? more. Decided to go ahead and remove as I want to ride some gravel roads and don't think these have much grip for that.

Replacing it with the K60..not the Scout, just K60, a little more aggressive sidewall.

Question for the leaned one.

I need to replace my Heidenau K60 Scout rear as it's getting down there. The front however (ala One Less Harley) shows no sign of any significant wear.
3300 miles

Can I mix any dual sport rear tire with the heidy front. I'm looking at the Distanzia 130/80-17 pretty hard but I'm a noob and just don't know. Are they so different that mixing is not recommended?

thank, and here's the Heidy rear:

Sure you can mix, they call it a mullet. Run a knobby up front and an 80/20 tire on the back.

I am Mr Mullet.

I am pretty much addicted to Mitas rear tyres EO7's and E09 - nothing beats them for miles - the compromise is that they are square. On front it is usually an MT21 or a T63. I must have got over 12,000km out of the last EO7 rear on the G/S (Cape York and back, Canberra Adelaide and the commute). I think they have changed the compound (softer and stickier )on the EO7 as the one on my Terra is cracking up after 6,000km.

Here's my mullet.

TKC80 front and K60 Scout rear, both had done 18150 Km. The Conti was spun around on the rim at around 9000 Km to even up knob scalloping.

I found the K60 very hard in the sidewall and had to soften up the rear suspension to compensate; I prefer the E07 rear. K60 was super scary in the wet, TKC80 front and rear much more stable.

Just put another set of E07s on the G/S , old set lasted 14000 km, which compares well with the less 5000 km I managed from the last set of Scorpion AT? 60 s.

The new set of E07s were definitely not as square as the previous set , the 21" front in particular was almost semicircular , and it took a few days to get used to it.

The rear looked a bit like the rear on the airhead up the front in Davorallyfans post, and that looks reasonably rounded.

The old ones had plenty of grip for the sort of riding I do, so I hope they haven't softened the compound and reduced the life.

The Mitas guy has thread on ADV, and he is rather harsh on folks who run tires less than the recommended pressures then complain about tire life and damage, so it might pay me to ask him if he has changed the EO7s compound and recommended pressures.

From the official Mitas site: 230 kpal for the E-07. That would be 32 psi.

Have just mounted 606 rear, based principally on advice from here. Could not find them in Europe so bought from the states. Not really a long term solution, but wanted to try out what the fuss was about.

On the front mounted Michelin Starcross, based on advice from Rucksta - as apparently several Australian guys use this combo effectively

Hope to try them out next w/e

Btw- the TKCs are great all round tyres, but pls note that in the review they did not try them out in mud.....
