I would try running 20-50 and start with the oil fill level at 2\3 full. Monitor consumption. If she drops to 1\2 full I would still monitor consumption at that level for a while.

On my 89 R100GS I fill to just under the full line ( 1/8" or so ). I might be down a 1/4 quart by the next oil change ( 2500 - 3000 miles ). As far as air cleaners, I have been running a K&N since my first air filter change. Air box has always been clean inside.

Oil consumption is just fine. My 92 GSPD does about the same. Stop frettin and get out there and ride
