quick answer to your questions......yes........and yes!



long answer is it is generally not to bad. can be cold and frosty in the mornings but if you have the right gear its not a problem. I live at the bottom of the South Island and ride my bike all year round (more out of necessity than choice as the wife and I only have one car so if she is going one way and I am going the other I have no choice but my bike)
