Moving to the Bay Area!

Just an FYI, pretty soon you will be seeing me in this part of the forum. I am taking a job in San Jose this month and moving down from Spokane, Washington. I see some amazing rides in my future!

I spent all last summer in San Jose and because very accustomed to lane splitting. Then when I came back to WA I tried it a few times and people didn't really like it.

I just moved down to the North Bay last summer from Portland, Oregon.

Best of luck with your move.

Our move was a tough one. Way too much stuff after being in Portland for 15 years.

And, I'm still a bit freaked by lane spliitting

Lucky for me I am 23, single, and I spend most of my money on my motorcycle so I don't have very much to move.

Lane splitting came pretty natural to me... Probably because I am a nut on 2 wheels. I am hoping to find some good off road riding groups. I can keep up with dirt bikes just about anywhere they can go. Took the Rawhyde Adventures 'Next Step' course in April and I was pretty bummed out when I left California. I guess that was enough to get me to move, not to mention an amazing job offer.

Are there any rides planned any time soon?

If you guys are interested in riding courses, there is a guy named Doc Wong who does everything motorcycle; ergonomics, first aid, street, dirt, big bike off road, etc. He posts on here somewhere.

Most Bay Area riding is street. There are lots of good roads between Santa Cruz and the South Bay, as well as in the North Bay near Sonoma/Napa Valleys.

Dirt isn't far away, though. There are at least 3 National Forests within 3 hours to the east, all with great camping.

I have rode Skyline and Mount Hamilton... Those are probably just one tiny bite out of the cake!

That is the center of it. Check out Hwy 9. Also, day rides down to Big Sur are pretty nice.
