Sand/Gravel pits or other places to ride offroad?

Are there any Sand or Gravel pits in the Anchorage/Mat-su area where one can ride offroad and practice enduro riding techniques like riding in sand/loose rocks, hill climbs/decents, etc? Looking for an area that's not busy and legal so I can improve my dualsport skills.

Pretty much looking for an area like this:

You could head out to Butte on the Old Glen. I'm pretty sure you can get away with anything you want out there and I seem to remember gravelly, sandy and muddy places for that sort of thing. If you start hearing dueling banjos while you're out there, start looking for a speedy route back to the asphalt.

Head out toward Sand Lake Rd and Dimond Blvd in Anchorage. There are some old gravel pits there that can be ridden in but I don't know that I'd ask your question about it being legal. All property is posted in part because they don't want to be liable for you damaging you on their property. Attractive nuisance and all that.

Back in the day we use to ride the sand lake/jewel lake pit, now it's a subdivision! There is the Jodhpur Motocross track. Check it out here:

I think it has what you want but I moved out of the big city decades ago and haven't been there for a very long time. It's free but I'm not sure about how crowded it gets.
In the valley we use to ride out at Jim Creek but you might have to do some mud before getting to the sand and gravel. Also use to ride Buffalo Mine and Jonesville roads as well. Haven't been there in years either, maybe some of the Palmer area riders know more.

If you are riding the Valley, just jump off the road and do some ditch banging on the ATV trails along side the road. You can find whatever conditions you want without much problem and no one will bother you.

I'd kill for some single track up here. Quads and 2 track are for the mentally slow.
