So Wednesday, took Adrian up to Mt. Helix, then met Arnie Fry and Eddie (Shafted on ADV) at Eastbound Bar in Lakeside.

Thursday night, we had another get together at Ed's....with Eric, me, John Penrose, Adrian and Codyboy. Arnie Fry didn't make it down from Ramona.

Then saw Adrian off this morning....Ed gave him a map and showed him which back roads to take to get to Glendora....I think he made it thru Borrego and Idylwild, and his clutch slave cylinder gave out 65 miles from Glendora....he joined AAA when he got here, so don't think the tow cost him anything. His friend had a spare slave he put on, now he's good to go on his trip from LA.

Great to hear Adrian say his experiences in his first few days in America have been great, as well as the people !

Hey Hodgo, now you've done it....invited me to Australia....now I'm gonna have to take you up on the offer and come ride that Africa Twin !

Was great meeting you.....Hodgo's a good ole Bloke, eh ?!!

Hodgo, since I can't attach my photos here, maybe you can add them on here...I e-mailed them to you.

Was the big SE running a bit crap up that high?

Or just Hodgo?

Don't forget Sept 14th or they will be waiting at the airport for you!

update for the last few days.

Well a few more pictures of the San Diego boys.

They are a top bunch of blokes that just love their bikes & adventure.
Heres one for Seano & Wez. Remember whats done in the US stays in the US.

The bike gathering outside.

Bit of San Diego from on top of MT helix

I stitched this on the back of my Dri Rider so people can make allowances for my slow riding.

Few more pictures at eds place for another catch .

Heres me old mate Rad just before i was setting of back
to LA

& cody the wonder dog

Then i got to Temecula & pulled the clutch three times & it was rooted.
Tried putting baby oil in it in front of a grocery store with no luck.
Mind you the pharmacy was not keen on giving me a syringe until he worked out i didn't need the needle. After that had been clarified he was more than happy to help me. So no luck bleeding the clutch & after i pulled off the slave cylinder i found that it was very ovalled.

So i put on the spare that Dave had lent me & still no dice.
So i luckily took Daves advice on becoming a aaa member so i phoned them for a tow. Old mate rocked up 20mins after in his truck to pick me up.

Whilst i was pushing the bike up onto the tilt tray i slipped on oil that was on the tray & 400 pounds of bike nailed me good and proper to the tray. I was stuck. As it was in a busy car park people came out of the woodwork to help lift the bike off me.
Heres the bike on the truck.

So 70mile tow back to Daves house & a saving of $8.00 per mile for being a triple a member.

Dave miraculously had managed to order a new slave cylinder from recluse. It arrived Sat morning.

A big thanks to Kurt from black dog cycle works & CJ racer for their help too.

We installed it very efficiently. Being clean freaks we used a rather liberal amount of break cleaner to get rid of the baby oil. Plus the dumb aussie rider thought that flushing the lines out with petrol would be a good idea too.

It turned out that the break cleaner had ran down the choke cable all the way to where the cable splits to both chokes.

Inside is a piston that connects the one cable to the two cable y piece.

The brake cleaner had melted the outer tube & bonded it to the piston inside. Result being no choke. So bike now has carbies off it & hopefully i can order new choke cables today.

Shit happens.

So today my XD4 should arrive. My wolfman bags are just awesome too btw.

Seriously we were totally dumbfounded by the melted plastic, I used the same procedure on my bike a number of time since I use UV Dye in the oil to find the leaks. I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that the issue we had with the choke cables could have happened.

Good thing he is stranded with a bike half apart in my garage otherwise he might be pissed at me...

So you find that part yet? And NO you may not use my bike for parts either.....

I think Hodgo likes your place in California and doesn't want to leave, so he's sabotaging his own bike so he doesn't have to leave.
(It's the oldest trick in the book...)

So stop being so nice to him and showing him such a good time and he might move on.

In short - stop hogging the cool Aussie guy!

Q~

P.S.
If Hodgo ever shows up in Idaho Falls, I'm going to hide my SE.
I need all the parts on it where they are.

SH!T

That is what I was thinking too...time to get out the shotgun. He is starting to be more like a Kiwi every day...

(I don't know why but was told that was the proper thing to say)

So no one has a choke cable on stock. Waiting for burts to open at 10am & will call them. To get one overnighted costs an extra $40 _ $60

Man i should be an overnight postman.

Seriously who opens a motorbike shop at 10am.

Im hearing ya Seano. But im traveling light so the attire is somewhat restricted.

So i ordered the cable from Burts who called back quoting a different part number than what i gave them, So i hope the clown orders the right cable.

So Dave kindly showed me around the hills towards Big Bear Lake & Lake Arrowhead.

Definitely not used to such high altitudes but the SE handled the twisties pretty well. Even my Kenda $59 rear tyre was good to lean over a bit.

Heres some pictures.

This Helmet is absolutely killing me. But Younggun640 gave it to me to wear till my Arai XD4 shows up.

Following along behind DSM8

great scenery. But i get a bit of motion sickness following behind on the twisties. So have been trying to look further in front, but doesnt seem to work. Backing off till nothing is in front seems to work. Im just not used to this type of riding with so many twists & turns at altitude.

More good shots.

Then i saw this massive train coming through the mountains with locos in front & behind.

The forest fires here in California certainly are burning in a few places.

Dave & Myself.

This bloke truly is & incredible man for putting up with me & showing me around the traps of CA.

And finally at Big Bear lake.
