Ive been putting in the 91 fuel here but apparently its calculated different here and its equivalent to our 95Ron.

Bike seems to be running fine, apart from some wiring issues that are partly contributed to me.

LPG is not common here at all compared to Aust. When you fuel up most people use there plastic cards. If you use a credit card it asks for your postcode instead of pin number. Seems its part of a security measure for Credit Cards. Strange if you ask me & a pain in the arse as it only accepts five digit post codes which dont exist in Aust.

So ive been using cash & having to go into the station to get old mate to turn the pump on then get change when im done.

Fuel is about $4.00 per gallon for 91oct.

Not heard of the zip code thing. Midwest seems to be just pin code and pump. I remember having trouble with Ozzie cards though. More often than not they would not work at pump but would work at cashier. Also, I'd find debit card would work if I pushed credit.

Might make sense to get one of those prepaid debit cards that way you have a US based account for travels. Treat it like a credit card at the pump or something like that. I don't know just farting out ideas...

Hodgo we stuck our money into Wells Fargo and got two debt cards, they do ask for ZIP code when out of state so we had to organise that so they would not stop our card.

Some ask for you 4 digit pin and some ask for your 5 digit ZIP.

Hope this helps mate, if not too bad

Zip codes for gas

I'm Canadian and ran into the same issue at the pumps on a recent ride. Only thing I could think of was the tv show Beverly Hills 90210.....and it worked. Never did watch the show....honest!:

That would fix the eternal dilemma on big adventure bikes. Crank her into low range and onto the trails.

After reading about your clutch drama it prompted me to order the rekluse semi auto clutch kit. My 990 2007 has 25,000 miles and no idea of its service history and I'm new to KTM world but bloody impressed so far!

Seems eventually the master and slave are going to give trouble and I keep reading good reports on the rekluse.

You've dealt some of the other main issues yeah? Water pump and fuel filter. I'm in the geographic center of the country just about on the i80 so PM me if you ever want parts mailed where you can pick them up.

Thanks trail Bandit for the offer much appreciated.

So if anyone is cleaning oil off their clutch master cylinder DONT use brake cleaner.

So today was spent hassling Burts megamart for my choke cables, but no dice.

This evening i went to the local church yard where once a month they have a collection of food trucks selling their take away foods.

So i placed my order and waited, and waited, and waited. It turned out that the wind had apparently blown my order slip away.

Old mate was very apologetic and offered to give my money back for waiting so long. Plus he still honored my order.

Yet another example of how genuine the American people are.

Ive said it before but ill say it again. This trip will probably be more about the people than it will the places.

Will take some pictures of my Wolfman Rocky Mountain bags. Man are they good quality gear.

Put a zero in front of the postcode eg for Mt Gravatt put in 04122 it works 3/4 of time saves going in to the counter and no ATM fees.

Thanks Craig.

Here's the pictures of what brake cleaner does to split piece choke cables.

The little metal bit is suppose to slide inside the tube.

You can see the indent that the metal piece made. I took a pair of pliers to get it out after we cut the tube in two with the dremel.
