Prudhoe...how's the road?

The Mrs. and in are thinking about heading all the way north in the next week or two... Anyone know how the road, weather and lovely skeeters are doing up that way these days?

Is the best way to camp at Circle and do the round trip from Circle to Prudhoe and back to Circle all in one day?

Thanks.

Just got back from another trip up. Pretty chilly over the pass (18 degrees) on the way over but nice on the way back. Road is in good shape but as many here know that can change day to day. It can get really slippery if you have a good amount or rain. Prepare for rain and mud and you probably won't be sorry for the extra layers and rain gear.

I think that the best bet is to get gas in Coldfoot and stay in Wiseman on the way up and down with another night camping near Deadhorse or staying at Deadhorse Camp in between. Most likely you wont need the extra day, but if it is particularly snotty you will be glad to have it.

Good Luck, it can and should be a great trip!
