Wicklow - Ireland

An afternoon's ride-out to the Wicklow hills. Great riding, right on our doorstep from Dublin.

Over Sally Gap

Military Road (R115) - across the raised bogs, built as a response to the 1798 rebellion.

ending in Glenmalure

Just one of the countless places I drove in Ireland where I wished I was on a bike instead! Thanks for posting.

I'm the other one in this photos / video. I had the camera on my helmet (a new Drift HD Ghost). slashtommy was in front with the rear facing camera (an older Drift HD 170). All the photos you see are from my HD Ghost camera. Wicklow is great. I grew up in Dublin, and the Wicklow mountains are right beside Dublin, but it was only when I got a bike a few years ago (thanks @slashtommy!) that I started exploring it, and it's damn scenic.

As you can see, the weather was a bit overcast that day, but at least it didn't rain. We took loads of back roads all over the place. If you're biking in Ireland and you're in Dublin, take a spin up around the Wicklow "mountains".

(It's offically called the "Wicklow Mountains" but many of these shots are at the top of them, it's more hills than mountains :P )

I spent about three weeks touring Ireland on a CB250RS back in the mid '90s, when I was working in England. I loved the place, but went sans camera in those pre digital days. Thanks for the pictures; they stimulate memories for me.

We went out again last weekend! The weather was beautiful. Lovely sunny days, lovely views.

It was so hot, there was some fires in the bogs, which is the first time I've seen that.

There was some sort of classic car convention that weekend. There were *loads* of classic cars out, which was quite unusual aswell. Luckily they are easy to pass. Those ancient cars are probably very unsafe, without any of the modern safety features. Annoyingly a bug hit my camera at some point. :P

Damn car drivers. Lots of people went for a drive up to the mountains that day, parked their cars on the side of the road, and went for a walk. They parked their cars on the narrow part of the road. This caused massive tailbacks and queues as other drivers almost got stuck, and had to edge their way past. Luckily for us bikers, we just turned around and went back the way we came.

@slashtommy at the end of a successful bike ride. 😁
