Nice to see that he hasn't changed.

He'll have to answer those questions for the rest of his life. For a while it will be 'Do you think you'll go back." Then it will be "How would you have fared against Marquez." Then they'll ask do you think you left too soon and some one will ask do you regret leaving at your peak? Seldom if ever will he be asked to reminisce about his career.

Quick question.

I am unable to attend Laguna Seca this year (so I have 2 great turn 2 suite tickets for sale!). In it's place I am going to head to the continent and catch a later round. It looks like either Misano (Sept 15) or Aragon (Sept 29). Does anyone who knows better have a preference? I really wan't to go somewhere with a huge party atmosphere (San Marino I assume?) but if Spain is cheap that would make sense too. Which track would have better viewing? Modern big screens?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Brent

Motomatters, May 5, 2012:

Casey Stoner has moved to quash rumors of his retirement which appeared in the Spanish press after Jerez. He would continue competing in MotoGP for as long as he still enjoyed the racing, and right now, he was still having fun, he said after the pre-event press conference for the Estoril MotoGP round. When he stopped having fun, he would retire, but that moment had not yet been reached, he said.

Q: And you're still enjoying it?

"At the moment, yes. I mean, results are good, so ..." Stoner joked. "But in general, I still enjoy it, it gets tough sometimes, but I still love my racing."

Stoner's retirement statement, Motomatters, May 17, 2012:

"This sport has changed a lot, and it's changed to the point that I'm not enjoying it, I don't have the passion for it. So at this time, it's better if I retire now."

Autosport, June 13, 2013:

"At this point I can't ever see myself going back," Stoner told Autosport.
"I'm closed, I'm done with it. I can't see the championship going in the direction I want it to, where I think I'd enjoy riding the bikes enough again, to want to go back and deal with that."

Misano, no contest for what you want. Aragon is in the middle nowhere, and stunningly beautiful, but it's quite deserted. Misano is right next to Rimini, massive holiday destination, plenty of partying. Personally, I'd take Aragon over Misano any day of the week, but then I'm a miserable cuss.

So what? He paid his dues.

It reminds me of Barry Sanders retiring from the NFL after only
10 years.

Give the guy a break.

Barry didn't open his yap at every opportunity to diss the NFL.

All forgiven by Stoner's "your ambition outweigh your talent"* line which still cracks me up.

*may be paraphrased as the quote has been reported different ways.

Might be an Australian figure of speech. First time I heard it was from Mladin after one of his rare crashes. Some body asked what happened and he said "My ambition outweighed my talent".

Yes, un-orginal line to say the least. Sounds like something CE would have come up with.

Valencia's weird. Not really a party GP, usually too cold by then. Beautiful city though.
